    Food preparation regulations Ontario Canada

Now when I lived in Ontario, any place that served prepared food had to display an inspection permit in plain view. Here in Newfoundland, I also have to display my permit in my dining room plus go through a yearly inspection. ??????????? Nothing like that for you stevewitharoom? Doesn't sound...

    Ugh! Another 4 Eye Review...

We do crab suppers six nights a week. We have at least one to do those nights--some nights it's all four rooms. It was a matter of self preservation since we seem to be awash in a sea of fast food and restaurants that close early. We serve up until 7 and then they can linger over their meal...

    Ugh! Another 4 Eye Review...

What I hate? "So remote, nothing around"---Um, isn't that why you picked us? "The roads are narrow and winding to the BB"--Um, so is every road in NFLD. "Pillows were kind of hard"--Um, pillow menu. I can give you hard, medium or soft - or when I mentioned this, you just nodded your head. Was...

    Feeling old and boring...

Yes! Spicy Caesar, extra hot. I want it to bite back. Hmm. I think I have all the ingredients.....

    What are your main attractions?

This is on my to do list for next season. Plus, I'll be buying a bigger day timer for festivals and events as soon as I get word of it. Don't know if it would attract bookings to know what's going on in my little corner since anyone that comes to the island looks at the big picture, but I though...

Trying for an early check in! A good reason for a half bath.

Don't really even have time to post this but I'm chowing down... Couple wanted an earlier check in (three hours earlier!). At the time of their request, we had a dead zone and I told them I'd see what I could do. Since then, all my rooms booked and I have a full turnover this morning. I've...

    How guests think

Love the review that included a picture of the rat trap under their bed.

Ever have one of those morning?

This was a great morning! I hate conventional breakfasts--bacon, eggs, toast, coffee. Don't get me wrong. Love this but you can get that anywhere around here. I try to be different and stand out but sometimes, unfinished plates make you question your choices. This morning, strawberry bread...

A warm welcome to the new forum members

Welcome all! I too have a four bedroom B&B in waaaay eastern Canada, which up until now I've been doing myself. However, our season is much shorter than most (May to September with with little or moderate traffic other times of the year). I will be looking for help next year. DH has tried but...

    I'm a genius ( or I'm not and I just didn't know about this)

I have my beds done before the first set are finished washing! No time for even dampish sheets.

Adding AC was a good idea

High heat and humidity is one of the reasons why we left Ontario and came down here. The breezes off the ocean are most welcome in the summer time and our guests truly appreciate it. I could almost put a sweater on when I start in the morning but I just think of it as fresh air! Nice to be able...

    I'm a genius ( or I'm not and I just didn't know about this)

So do I. Egyptian cotton, not sure of the thread count, but always has creases. I wash in cold, dry on the bedding cycle and take it out as soon as it's finished. Very careful when I fold, but still, bit honking wrinkles. But when I put my duvet cover on, I mist it with the vodka and water...

    I'm a genius ( or I'm not and I just didn't know about this)

Hey, the only vodka I had in the house was my precious Grey Goose. Yikes! Needless to say, I'm out to buy the cheap stuff today! Speaking of martinis.......wino, lol, have you ever tried to infuse your vodka with pineapple? My son in law introduced me to this curse and it's the smoothest...

    I'm a genius ( or I'm not and I just didn't know about this)

I take the bedding out of the dryer right away so the wrinkling wasn't awful, but I found my duvets turned around and Mort said it was because people thought I hadn't changed the bedding. So, at least this is my last resort.

    I'm a genius ( or I'm not and I just didn't know about this)

Was talking with a guest about ironing (yuck, only good thing about it is getting my Netflix fix). I iron my pillowcases and shams but not my duvet covers. I was ambitious my first season and did them, now I'd be just plain crazy. She suggested I use linen water. Or make my own. Linen water, I...

    Off your game

JB, no one has lost them yet! And around here, everyone feels so safe that I have a hard time getting the guests themselves to lock the door! I tell everyone that I'll lock it by a certain time. And the code is changed frequently. And the info is in a little plastic key tag that I just snap open...

    Amenities

We have barn-style doors that block off th two entrance to our kitchen. They just slide over, mostly for privacy. I finally convinced DH to put latches on them so that I could lock them. He thought it was silly (!) Came home tonight after running a quick errand-everyone was looked after or had...
