We are going through a Polar Vortex right now. West Virginia (where I am) has a median temperature of 32 F with perhaps one or two nights of single digit temps a year. Sometimes it will repeat a week later for one or two nights and then back to normal of teens at night and twenties to forties during the day.

Last week, while I was away, we had 3 nights that concerned me but my precautions worked and no frozen waterlines. Last night it dipped to -1 F and is now up to +7 F and will go all the way to +12 F today. My water bill and electric bill will be horrendous this month (and the gas bill will not be far behind - I jacked the thermostat up to 68!) but as of now, now plumber bills on the horizon. I hope I have not jinxed myself because tonight it will -3 F for several hours (the single digits start at 6 PM) and Wednesday the low is predicted at -8 F. We also got another 5 or 6 inches of snow here Saturday into Sunday. I am in the "foothills", not our mountains where snow is measured in feet and the ski resorts are located, my area measures inches. We DO know how to drive in it unless, as happened the last 2 weeks, there is a freezing rain UNDER the snow.

So! How are you faring? Guests? (I am blessed with ZERO this time of year) Waterlines? I hope everyone is well, warm, and safely tucked in.

So! How are you faring?
Guests: Blessed to have ski areas nearby so if the weather is right, we have a decent winter season.
Waterlines: So far, so good, hopefully sufficiently insulated to ward off problems but every few years we seem to learn a new lesson.
Tucked in: Warm right now inside, 3 degrees out, cold yesterday attempting to push enough snow to reveal the blacktop so the sun would help clear the parking area.

That term reminds me of childhood. Neighborhood friend was Billy Tuck, his family ran the Tuck Inn, seems like the sign said "Let us Tuck you Inn" or something to that effect.
