Which is more valuable?

We have a small (or cozy if you're marketing) room with a queen bed and a daybed. The bathroom is down the hall. It gets booked often for a couple and a kid or two women traveling together or, this week, three older kids while the parents took another room.
I think it's too small. I want to ditch the daybed and put in a couple of pretty chairs. Hubby and I are having conversations about it. I say the occasional $25 extra is not worth the hassel of three people in a tiny room. He says it books often enough that he knows people like a room with two beds.

We have a large double room with a sofa bed in it. Like you we get couples with small children or couples with 3 children (the bed in that room is a zip-link too).
Last summer I got fed up with many 1 nighters wanting the sofa bed, so I'd make it up, next day put it back to sofa, next day make up the bed again. Said to DH I'm not doing it any more.
In reality I have taken a couple of bookings this year that wanted the sofa-bed but only when it suits me, and only 2n+ or if I have an orphaned empty night so I take the booking to fill it.

We have such a room (but larger and with a king bed). Pain to make up extra bed, but easier than bringing in a roll-away to one of the other rooms. I think you always need options for the extra child or for adults who do not want to share, particularly in a queen.

We ditched the second bed in two rooms. I'm much happier. Perhaps a little poorer, perhaps not.
We upgraded the beds. A double + twin is now a queen with two comfy chairs. A queen + twin is now a king with two comfy chairs.
How about two twins that convert to a king on request? Or the reverse?
I'd look seriously at how often the room had three guests vs two who used both beds. We definitely need rooms with two beds, so we kept two.
We lost a couple of guests but I think we saved a few more by not having three people in and out of that room to use the bathroom.
If the room is super small those three adults are not going to have the best experience.

First, I would make a chart and mark it whether both beds were used and how many people were in the room, etc. Then you can see if its only booked for that other bed or not and make a better decision.
Second, How about moving the daybed to a bigger more expensive room that isn't book as often as the others? Then have the smaller room for only two people. That's way when you do have three, you get the $25 plus the difference between the two room rates.

We do have a fair amount of folks asking for a room with two beds (for two adults) it only seems to be booked by a group of women traveling together and one family. So before you lose the revenue from the room altogether, maybe consider upping the price ($35/$45 per person?) to make it worth your while - then see if it still gets booked...?

We have a mix of room sizes, 1 queen, 2 queen, 2 queen and a twin. At one time the larger rooms had a bunk bed rather than the twin and some of the smaller rooms had an extra bed, while this gave us some extra sleeping space I felt rooms were crowded, the arrangement made cleaning more difficult and extra people always add to the wear and tear on the room, generally I think we are a nicer place today.
I know none of us want to deprive our guests, but you got to take care of you too, what works for you helps eliminate stress and burnout.

Thank you! I’m so glad I asked. I love this place. I do have a room that is much bigger but not more expensive and we can move the day bed in there! Both rooms will be improved by the switch.

We just had four adults in a two room suite for two nights. One queen and one full size pullout couch! I thought it was tight but they wanted it.
This morning they mentioned that the pull out sofa was uncomfortable. I told them the mattress is less than a year old and is covered with a memory foam topper. But it’s still a,pull out couch.

A pull out couch is for kids or for relatives, not for paying adult guests. Of course they are going to gripe, their friends got the bed!
My dad slept on the fold out couch the last year of his life. After he was gone, I tried to sleep in it. OMG! The man was a saint! I cannot believe he never complained. It was awful!

Replace it by an daybed from the Swedish restaurant that sells Chinese furniture with Swedish names. In particular item 60421446, just buy two mattresses for it. You put them one on the other, when stored and it looks like a single (get a bedspread to cover, two body pillows for the back, etc. And it's like a couch most of the time. You can set it up like a single easily. But if need be, you can pull it out to be a king that is short by just 2". Comes in white or black.

we decided last night to limit that room to 3 people. 4 is too many.

Thank you! I’m so glad I asked. I love this place. I do have a room that is much bigger but not more expensive and we can move the day bed in there! Both rooms will be improved by the switch.
