Video Doorbells

I was wondering if anyone is using a video doorbell, and how you like the one you use? We live in a renovated barn behind our Band B. Since we just finished the renovation, we have discovered that it is pretty difficult to know when guests arrive. It is not so hard for the drive in guests, but we have many guests that arrive by train and jitney. Thanks so much for your help!

One of the reasons that I like the Z-Wave stuff, you can set it up to notify you when a code is used. We can also look at the system and see which doors are locked and which are unlocked and who's code was used... so we know when the housekeeper was in, how long, etc.

Joey Bloggs had a video camera at the door and she used it and liked it, to see who's at the door.

We have one and really like it. It has a motion sensor, camera and ability to have a conversation with the person at the door. It's called Ring wireless doorbell. We got ours at Cost co, but you can get it at Ama zon or Home De pot. Just don't place it near a large flag, it will go off CONSTANTLY!

I bought a Ring doorbell after a guest arrived 4 hours earlier than she told me she'd arrive. She rebooked at a hotel because she "felt unsafe" when no one was home to answer the door. She was from Minnesota and I think perhaps someone of a different ethnicity was walking by at 3pm on a Tuesday afternoon, which is certainly scary

She was traveling on business, too!
Anyway, the Ring doorbell has freed me from worrying if I'll miss a guest while I'm taking out the garbage, vacuuming the 3rd floor room, gardening in our courtyard, running errands, or even walking my dog. I've answered the bell while in the grocery store, in the park, and while driving (unsafe & do not recommend!). My living quarters are similar to yours. Our apartment is separate from the main house and I can't hear our doorbell if I'm upstairs cooking dinner.
As an added bonus, if I'm expecting a package I make sure to turn on the motion sensor alert (I normally keep it silenced). That way, if the delivery guy doesn't ring the bell, I still know when the package arrives & can bring it inside asap.

After visiting friends we bought a drive sensor with a wireless chime in the house.
It works really well to know if guests are arriving, I also find it useful in the evening because it helps me keep an idea of who's in and who's out so I don't lock anyone out when I go to bed.
