….. and missing out on the show. The aliens that appear like humans have landed and are driving innkeepers innsane all over the earth!!!!!!!
Tomorrow will be better hopeful..
Worst part... hotel rooms in the city are going for enormous sums. I could replace guests and double my money.
I don't know why I'm good under pressure but horrible when pressurized. It's like "just let me get back to fixing it and stop annoying me with these things!"
Anyway, almost everything is back to normal, except my internal network. But I'm working on that.
.
Last minute cancelations?!?
shades_smile.gif
Would be really nice right now! I still can't believe the price!! Are people paying for it? That's what the swanky place on the ocean next to the beach is charging for some of their rooms but those are "worth" the price. (Not that I will ever stay in them.)
.
One star hotels are going for $300 a night... the Westin wants $725 a night (and I bet it doesn't even include breakfast! And that used to be Days Inn 3*... $1000 a night (3 rooms left.) We told one person who called who wanted a room at normal price... to stay an hour away on the other side of the border if they want that :)
So, now to add to the story. Go into the room and the AC is now set to 74 F. Last night they insisted we set it at 66 F. I reset it to the normal 70 F we leave rooms.
Internet is working fine. Replaced a showerhead; guests managed to kink the hose, new one has a metal hose. I have to go to the WareCost because we have nothing in the house... even out of coffee filters.
Guest checking in for one night is very nice, checked in early to get key and go, so I can go shopping. So far today is looking up.

That's the one good thing about an early check in that's actually early….

Our big weekend last weekend everyone but one room was check in before one on Thursday. Luckily no one had their rooms the night before and they stayed all through to Monday morning. They were all up and gone by 930-10 and didn't come back till 7. Can't complain!
shades_smile.gif

.
Oh, the room was being cleaned, but she got the key to the room, the key to the front door, set a breakfast time and left to come back later, so I was done. I don't mind when they set up an appointment to drop off luggage and check-in that way. That's a pleasure, as long as they tell us. It is those who expect the room... when standard check-in is at 3PM. For those who want us to clean the room to have it ready for noon... they pay. All others it's 3PM.
.
I just had a caller ask if check in was at 11. 'isn't that when everyone leaves?'
More or less why isn't that also check in time?
.
Say yes, if you don't mind taking the room as is... no cleaning in between. See if they say YES! Or realize there is a reason for the delay. :)

We had this today chap came at 12 - seemed baffeled room wasn't ready felt like saying s"sorry we can't change 11 rooms in an hour and if we did you wouldn't want to stay in them! really pressurised as normal sat person is off this week as well as monday to friday person but sat person covered mon-thursday and sunday person covered 12-3pm today, full day tomorrow and full day friday - but meant DH and I are doing rooms, no one would leave, late getting everyone out and shopping to do plus everyone who did not reply to their "when are you coming?" email came the minute we went out!

I am sorry your night out was spoiled and all the things that contributed to it. Demanding guests do not make it easier to take.
I am up to being only half-zombie. The lady with a horse that was coming in last night cancelled due to tire problems (had a guest several years ago who had blown tires on her trailer so understood)m Did not charge her and got to go to bed with no alarm to wake me up. Zoo starts again tomorrow.
I do not know how you folks do it with as many rooms and as many nights in a row as you do. Mine is not just guests with flips and laundry up the wazoo so I have it easier - just getting too darn old. This time, it was the 43 hours on about 45 min of sleep. Got about 3.5 hours before the zoo started again..
I do get a day off... at the end of October, when I go on vacation. (And irony, we have guests the morning we leave on vacation, so I will do breakfast, do the laundry, do the room and then leave on vacation because I hate coming back and the rooms aren't done.)
The last time I had a day off... May 12th. But I did get a call this week from a Neurologist, so I get to go see a doctor next week... that's time off, isn't it?
.
We rarely plan a trip without having to do a breakfast the morning of departure. I know the feeling. Murphy strikes. (I could have been empty for a week before but did not close the online rez soon enough.)
.
I am feeling really guilty. Cottage guests left early to catch a ferry to the islands and tomorrow they leave at 4 am to go home..Offered to accommodate early breakfast but did not even want a to-go bag so we are off the hook. Two couples traveling together who are staying in the main house are great but one couple just got bad news about health of parent and will leave 2 days early. So tomorrow and Monday we just have 2 for breakfast.
Thank goodness this summer is a light one for us....aircast up to knee on one foot/leg making it rather difficult to get around! So sorry that it all hits the fan during the busiest time of year for most of you.
