I got rid of my 800# 2 years ago. No problems what so ever! Chuck that thing!I get most of these calls on my personal line, so they need to comply. We have a national do not call list here in the U.S., but it's only for private numbers, not business to business. I don't know if it works for personal numbers since I haven't had one for so long!I think Madeleine has the answer here. Give them their feedback, and make it negative regarding the repeated harassment to give a review..WrongArks said:I think Madeleine has the answer here. That is called a can of worms.
Go ahead and try that one. You are only engaging and will get 10 more emails "badgering" you. PS Every time I read badger I think of Wind in the Willows... CHEERS!
.We'll see. I finally answered the call from Sears Protection last night at 8:30. I'd never answered any of the previous 200 calls.Joey Bloggs said:WrongArks said:I think Madeleine has the answer here. The voice on the other end sounded like a teenaged boy who really didn't want to get yelled at again. I just said, "Please stop calling me. Leave me alone," and hung up. We'll see. At worst, I don't think they will call more than they already were.
Granted, you're not supposed to respond to regular spam saying please unsubscribe me. That just confirms to them that you are really there. But I don't think it's the same with most legitimate companies asking for a review. We'll see, but I think most are just too dumb to realize that they're making us mad with all the contacts.

I was thinking about this as I TOO answered the call from a familiar marketer who has been calling...for YEARS. For YEARS I have been asking them not to call, the person is not here.
"Is Cary there?" Love the personal tone, as they deceitfully act like a buddy of Cary's...who is an older woman btw, and prior owner of this B&B, yes, over 10 years ago, and owned it for less than 2 years. So I addressed it once again...told them to BUG OFF. They will call again, they have been for years. Just like that loser who emails innkeepers and has done so for years, changes his M.O. on occasion and continues...forever, infinity...
The Red Cross calls here all the time too. BTW. They continue to call, I tell them REMOVE US FROM YOUR LIST, and they call again, the next week. Every week. Every Month. The entire year and into the next year.
.Around here, that company would be in a LOT of trouble. They don't have a relationship with you and therefore would need to stop calling you. The notification on the telephone gives them 30 days to get you on a list and they can't call you back for 3 years. If you were their client, it's a different story. And the punishment for calling you when you have put them on notice? Disconnection of phone service.Joey Bloggs said:Yes, we shall see... (insert that evil laughter here bwwawaahhhhhhhh)

I once caught the phone company violating the list. You should see the hoops they jumped through to keep me from getting their lines disconnected.

For the B&B line, it's a separate number with a different ring and I usually tell people that it's reservations only, the office doesn't have a phone, just email.
.Business line. Stupid overpriced business line.Sugar Bear said:I get most of these calls on my personal line, so they need to comply.

Not to change the topic but it was an overwhelming task to change all of this out, and DH wanted to do it and I said we are for sale, now is NOT the time to just have a private line, people won't get that...no wonder they aren't making a million bucks, they don't even have a business phone #! or listing!
.In re that phone calling, dead air scam that I mentioned awhile back... The phone company will not refund us for all of those 800# calls we are still getting. I am seriously thinking of retiring the 800# this year. Start removing it from everything until it exists only on brochures that have been stuffed in drawers for decades.Joey Bloggs said:Business line. Why should I be paying $50 to scammers for tying up my phone line?
