I’m so hoping one of you has a Tried and True recipe for Irish soda bread.
It seems one of my recipe collections got lost in my last move. and in it a recipe for Irish soda bread written in an index card by a friend of my mother.
It’s the little things that matter!
Of course I can’t duplicate that one but I’d like to come close.
It had raisins in it and a tiny bit of caraway seed (if we had any!)
I remember baking it on a parchment lined sheet and slicing the dough deep crossways before cooking.
We never had buttermilk so used lemon juice and milk.
I find loads of recipes online but would love one from someone I know.
Here’s hoping!
Thanks.
Haha … remembering the time a guest was disappointed I wasn’t serving an Irish breakfast. He said he thought I would because I had red hair and must be Irish. Funny. I never advertised such a thing.
