My younger cat has decided that she would make herself at home on the front porch whether there are strangers sitting there or not.
Most people are charmed. I know there are people in the world who are allergic to cats, some that are afraid of them and some that just plain do not like cats.
We did have one person call and ask about the cats' access because he was allergic. I assured him that the cats are not permitted in the inn (truth.)
But she does sit on the porch. Hope it remains charming and not annoying.
Have you had experience with an inn cat?

Guests will let the inn cat inside, be warned. The cat will say "let me in" and the guest will say "it acted like it needed to go in so we let it"...
I have MANY guest stories re cats, many. Too many. From screaming bridezillas, to frothing at the mouth cats being hauled around by little girls...

They did that this morning. How is it that cats manage to get their own way?

Dogs have owners. Cats have minions.
I'd be very cautious about saying the cats don't go inside the inn. They will. If only because they are faster than humans.

Just like insects, their whole goal is to get inside and wreak havoc.

Cat choose us about a year ago, comes in our house, but not normally in guest rooms, no one has complained nd most guests enjoy her visiting with them on the porch, at least one guest thought she was hungry and purchased food to entertain the cat.

Gave her food?? Yikes. That's a bit overboard.
I wouldn't put it past my cat to beg for bacon.

A cat has adopted my dad. Everyday at 5 pm, the cat comes to the door. I had the door open while I was there and the cat stood up, front paws on the screen calling for dad to come outside.
I bought it food so dad could feed it if he wants. But he gives it pizza crust instead.
Dad has a security camera so he can watch the cat from inside the house. It sleeps right on the front deck next to dad's chair.
Dad does not like cats. ;-)

We were supposed to stay with oldest daughter. I expressed concern because she had a cat and I had discovered the previous year (from experience) that I had developed an extreme allergy to cats. Her response was, "The cat is not allowed in that room."
On arrival, as I walked in the front door, I saw the cat walk out of the room we were to be sleeping in. We were staying 3-nights. On the 3rd night, I got up, dressed, and spent the rest of the night in the car for fear if I fell asleep, I would not wake up. So glad that cat was not allowed in that room.

Oh boy yes. They let him in one door, he immediately crosses the room to the other outside door, and I let him out again. The other door leads to his food porch so he always makes a beeline.

Same here. Cat chose us. Lives out, but greets all guests. Several guests have mentioned him in TA reviews. He is permitted to go in the guest apartment if they want him to. Some do. He has a bed in the loft of our shop in winter. This cat actually goes up and down the shop ladder to get to his bed. Comes down the ladder head first. Couldn't believe it when I first saw it. He chose a box we keep up there, so now there are some old soft towels we rotate in the box for him. He eats on the porch. At this time of year he thinks grasshoppers are the best cat toys ever.

My son has a cat allergy ... he did not have this allergy as a child. My daughter has a cat. He can only be at my daughter's home for a limited amount of time before this allergy acts up. He feels it coming and boom, he's got to leave.
The cat hides from people, my son never even sees her. She's very timid. And my daughter's home is kept very clean.

Gomez's cat lived in the garage. Same thing - she found a box full of old clothes up the ladder in the storage space and made herself a nest in there. I never saw her come down but i did watch her go up the ladder - straight up and down, the ladder was nailed the wall.
She used to leave him small animal hearts as a gift on the deck.

It can depend on the cat. I've slept at my brother's house (3 cats and a dog) and have had no problems (not a clean house). I've walked into houses where I've never seen the cat, didn't know one was there, no signs of cat and within minutes I've needed my inhaler.
Gomez's cat was ok. Until she would rub her head on my chin. That was it - the itching would start, then my eyes would water. But no inhaler. I lived with that cat for 2-3 years.

Skunks under our house several years ago. We were doing a whole house weekend rental the following week.
Neighbor girl: "Daddy, why is the neighbor man shooting those poor skunks?" (They had been eating cat food left out - not by us!)
"Well daughter: because otherwise their only natural enemies are 18-wheelers!"
