I'm sorry for your loss; having loved and lost so many of our own, we truly feel your pain.
A very good Innkeeper friend of mine (and our first Inn stay, and my mentor) lost her old Inn cat last year, and he was 19 years old. JD was such an integral part of that Inn, their website and their guest reviews that I am having a hard time imagining it without him.
In that same vein, our oldest doggie Assistant Innkeeper is reaching that age where I worry about everthing, she is incredibly gray in the face, but greets each new guest she meetsl like her best friend. I don't know what any of us (including the little girl) will do if and when anything happens to her.
I'm the two of you had each other. People without pets just don't understand that love!
