My parents had absentee parenting styles and my mother was home, still is. Never showed an interest in anything. They are both alcoholics, so most of their life is inward focused. You know the way it is, you are either just like them or force yourself to be the opposite!
I have parents of a kid at a college here right now, just checked in, God bless em..

This is move-in weekend at Yale. Have two sets of parents here. One from Eugene, Oregon who are are here for 4 days (the older brother too).
By the way we went out to dinner last night after all the guests had checked in. We will go out when guests are here but usually just in the area and most time there is at least one of us here. Most of the family lives at least a half hour away (at 70 mph) and we feel that is just too far in case of emergency.
