DH roasts our coffee. It's a big deal around here. Some people have told us they booked because of the coffee, and a lot of people when they check in say they ready about our coffee and are really looking forward to having it. We offer both drip and French press. Our French presses are stainless steel thermo pots and I offer it to those who I get the impression they like really strong coffee.
We also sell DHs coffee in our gift area..
Thanks for all your help everyone! How did you get started with roasting your own? How do I get started? That sounds kinda fun.
.
My friend was selling tea at parties a la Tupperware only tea. I had a huge variety of tea and felt I was cheating the coffee drinkers. So I went online and found this: http://www.burmancoffee.com/equipment/NescoPro.html and it comes with a sample of green coffee beans.
I go to: http://www.u-roast-em.com/coffee-beans.html or
http://www.burmancoffee.com/coffeelist/#origin or
http://www.ccmcoffee.com/index.php?cPath=21&gclid=CNqHy-PswaUCFUbf4AodW3txWw
To buy my coffee beans. Burman has the nicest packaging - HEAVY plastic zip-loc bags. With both Burman and U-Roast-em if you order on Monday, you will have them on Thursday at regular shipping charge. IF you order, mention Gillum House as the referer and I will get $2 of my next order.
The roaster has a recall of the minutes it was set for last time. You can incerase or decrease the time. If set for 25 min - it roasts for 20 and has a 5 min cool down cycle. It does not smoke - there is a sort of catalytic converter - the smoke goes up into the lid and back down into the roaster. You clean the parts with a mix of 50/50 amonia and water. Very east to use. I broke my roasting chamber once - for less than $59 with shipping I got another chamber and it came in less than a week.

We use Eight O'Clock Coffee, original whole bean. Our coffee maker grinds it for us. Lots of compliments! Best place to get it tends to be Wal-Mart.
White and red bag.

I get Eight O'Clock through Amazon with a repeating order. They send it automatically and give a discount for doing it!

Thank you! I haven't been to Amazon, but WMT charges about $14 for a 2+ lb bag. Will check it out, thanks!

That is the brand I used before I started roasting coffee. It is good coffee.

We use Maxwell House and we get good comments about it. I used to be a coffee snob - grinding my own beans every morning - for many years. Then, when it became one of those perks I had to cut back on, I realized that I could make Maxwell House taste good once I figuered out the right coffee-water ratio. I'd love to roast my own beans. I just know that I'd get SO into it!!! But, alas, I'm not the boss & can't justify the expense other than to tickle my own fancy.
