If you have read the Jan Karon MITFORD SERIES then you will recognise Blowing Rock as the town of Mitford to a T..

We have stayed in Boone and Blowing Rock tons of times, but they are really a long drive to the Biltmore.

Two points for the area. 1) The Cherokee nation casino is a big draw (I am speaking of in the area, ie while you are there). People travel to go to it. 2) The McDonald's near teh Biltmore mimics the Biltmore with table service, fireplaces, artwork. People go there just to go to the McDonalds. (Weird I know but it is something people do)

No way on the McDonalds!! That is someplace I would never go just to go since we don't eat much fast food, but now we will have to go, that's neat!! Going on my list to do right now!

It is THE CLASSIEST McDonald's in the world. Just some trivia.

You've pretty much hit the nail on the head right there...you didn't notice it. No one does. When they do, they are amazed and take a picture of it and wonder why the McD's where they live doesn't look so nice.

We've stayed at the Inn on Mill Creek, which is only 20 min. from Asheville, it was lovely! http://www.innonmillcreek.com/. Beautiful setting in the Black Mts. They do have rooms that accommodate more than 2 people, too.

I love that Mc Donalds!! Thanks for finding that picture, how neat! We probably walked right by it and never noticed it

I liked looking at those people pictures too, we have a few of the very same ones!
