    Think Reservations or Little Hotelier?

Everyone's operation is different, but I can: Change the length of the visit Change a rate Add a fee Add an item for sale Add a discount

    Think Reservations or Little Hotelier?

While I’m sure Reservation Key has grown, it is nice dealing with a person who cares rather than a huge organization. Most mornings I spend a few minutes on the forum, chances to learn or offer help.

    Think Reservations or Little Hotelier?

Like Gillum, I use Reservation Key, does what I need at a reasonable cost. That said, everyone wants us to change to whatever they are selling, so my advice is that we have to decide what features and prices are important for our needs. What does it cost? Every seller has a point where he is...

“Could you please tell me and all the internet your network password?”

I would hope we all have a different/separate password for our guest network from our business/personal network.

    Trip Advisor Troubleshooting?

You didn't ask, but I got more calls from Yelp wanting to sell advertising than I ever got reviews, considered it a waste of effort. Not much help on TA as I don't remember filling out anything, as best I remember I just claimed the listing. If someone doesn't chime in with better information I...

If it was too easy, we wouldn't need plumbers, but some just nap on the job.

Putting Feelers Out...New Smyrna Beach, FL Motel

1] No not really "price", the employee wants the same thing that you want, "enjoy life a little". 2] I'm coming up on 80, so yes, now is the time. Health and energy start dropping faster after 70 3] Not so much laundry but time, staff the office for 13 hours and on call for the other 11 hours...

Putting Feelers Out...New Smyrna Beach, FL Motel

I sort of understand, a bit over 30 years ago our idea was to sort of retire and run a little motel in our vacation area. Wonderful ideas here on the forum, but as motel people we are the odd ones, I think only a few of us on the forum. Negative thoughts: you have the pride of ownership and all...

    I only feel slightly guilty...

Good to be booked but I do understand as I always had those jobs [pre cell phone days] where I didn't know for sure I was going until I started down the road and no one could call and change my plans.

    Hot? It is not!

Seems to be the issue with so many businesses today

    Hot Water Question

Even simpler, the Watts pump I use has a timer built into the pump, at different times I've used it both ways in different seasons of the year. In stock form it uses a thermostatic valve under the sink at the far end of the line. That valve feeds the hot back into the cold line, but only enough...

    Hot Water Question

Arks, in our case the pump is tiny, you don't need to move a lot of water to keep it warm and son-in-law and I wrapped the pipes to retain heat. A side benefit is that it keeps a bit of water moving so pipes don't freeze in winter. Our hot water tank is only 60 gallons for everything so not a...

    Hot Water Question

Hi Arks, I agree with you, (difficulty of talking via a post in a forum rather than face to face) either one should take about the same time for hot water to reach a room. That said, for our property, a small living area and 11 bedrooms in a row, it took forever to get hot water down the line...

    Hot Water Question

Yes, exactly correct. New installation, I think you said yours was that way, with a tankless close to each unit, tankless would be the way to go. Old installation, such as mine, the heater is a great distance from the point of use, in that instance a tank or small tank with a tankless backup AND...

    Hot Water Question

Opposing view to tankless water heaters: If as Arks says you have one for each unit and physically close to the point of use, I can see that possibility. However, daughter's home, tankless unit replaced water tank and supplies kitchen and bath, takes a bit to get hot to kitchen sink, if I turn...

    Hot Water Question

The recirculating line is definitely the superior solution the thermostatic valve feeds the hot/warm water back into the cold line, useful if a person is locked into using existing supply lines. I suppose I've always been impatient, sure is nice to turn on the tap and have hot water right away...

    Curiosity Questions

AC not too bad in our cool mountains but come winter those same units heat our rooms with electric heat, those are the bills I hate to see arrive.

    Hot Water Question

MatthewF, look at this site RightSpec® Sizing Software | Bradford White Water Heaters. Built to be the best. I have an 8-guest room motel plus our living quarters, in the past did our own laundry also. We have a 60-gal high efficiency propane water heater from Bradford-White, wasn't cheap, and...

    Curiosity Questions

I'm probably odd as usual, possibly things I'd say. "How many guests do you have staying with you tonight?" - maybe nothing more than a conversation starter, perhaps an interest in the business. "What do people do for a living here?" - conversation, might mean I like the town, could I earn a...

    Patience, Please!!!

I use the templates; however, I think Arks sets a unique code for each guest, going to have to set that code before sending an email. It would take me a couple of minutes just to walk to the room with the computer as I'm old and slow.
