WTF! It's 4°C Outside.... Why Is Everyone Asking Me For the Air Conditioner?

What's wrong with people. I have had at least 6 people in the last week ask me for the remote for the AC.... it's 4°C outside, the high is 12°C... why do you need the AC?

One lady asks me to turn it on. Another asks me to turn it off (it's set to heating). Is there something psychological that I'm missing? Is a window to cool the room just not functional anymore?

smh. I will never understand guests' temperature requirements. Several years ago, I had a genius run the gas fireplace in his room while running the AC. It was 10 degrees F outside, one of the coldest days on record for my city. The pipes froze when he turned the fireplace off & he couldn't understand why.

We removed the window A/C's this week. First clue it's time? Snow.
However, that does not stop guests from dismantling the covers on the wall units, plugging the units in, and running them.
At the same time, like you, we can have one room with the A/C on, another with the heat up to 80, another with the windows open, someone else asking for more blankets.
I don't get it either.

I would expect part of the romantic idea of visiting a beautiful inn and enjoying the fire, although for the innkeeper doesn't help the operating expense, is the gas plumbed so that you could turn of the gas feed during the warm weather?

Mort, we as people have widely different personal temperature ranges, don't know why, but we are all different. A niece would surely be hunting her winter coat when temperatures drop to the lower 70's, me on the other hand I'm melting from the heat when the temperature rises past the upper 60's, I'm sure I'd be the guy with the window flung open and wanting an extra blanket to snuggle under.

I can identify with that, in 1978 (different era) was at a company gathering in Roanoke, my roommate was a smoker, he and others gathered in our room to drink, smoke and play cards, as bedtime came and went I finally had enough and opened the window by my bed, had been 9 degrees when we arrived that afternoon so it didn't take too long to clear the smoke and extra guests from the room so I could get some sleep.

We also turn the gas for the fireplaces off during the summer and advertise them as (seasonal). But I have had guests insist on our starting a log fire in the wood burning common space fireplace when the temps outside were in the high 50'sF which is not cold enough to draw the smoke for a wood fire. Try explaining that to an irate guest who doesn't understand physics.
