What can you say to lift someone up today?

I want to say this as we have had a hard time here recently on this forum. People complain about the complainers, people complain about the negative stuff, what can YOU say or do to life someone up today?
Don't do it here, do it somewhere else, and let's have a far reach for good today. I bet it will be contagious and in fact show up here, more than you could ever imagine.
Just a suggestion. Let's see how powerful we can be, in a positive way!

Thank you, JB, for pulling us back to the other side where we belong! I'll do my part today to lift someone up.
Our Business Assoc, of which I am the Treasurer, had a food drive and delivered 198.6 pounds of canned goods to our local food bank today. So, we've lifted up some people by helping fill their bellies.

Sometimes all it takes to make someone's day is doing something unexpected, like giving a complimentary upgrade. Our guests were thrilled with that today and we were happy we were able to do it.

We just gave a comp upgrade today too! We try to do it as often as possible during slow season.
Not that we expect anything in return, but two weeks ago we upgraded both rooms for two couples who were here for just one night. Both sets of guests left us $20 tips!

Went to the beach to do an elopement. Yucky raining day, but I decided to take my camera and take pictures of them getting married. They weren't expecting it and it will be something they can look at in the future as they reminisce about getting sprinkled on during their ceremony. They were very sweet and appreciative.

Listened to a writing friend reading from her story about the connections she has with her now-deceased mom and how she sees these connections as a gift to not fear death. We laughed, we cried, she was encouraged to continue her writing.

I have typed and retyped what I wanted to add to this and it just got too wordy - my usual problem.
So in short, we consciously try to do that for everyone we meet every day. Often an honest compliment is all it takes...

I love this! What a special gift that she could share that with you through her writing, and that you encouraged her to continue. I lost my mom in December and I feel her, see her, and hear her everywhere.

Coming from a European background, I grew up being used to greeting everyone (and saying goodbye) with a big hug and a kiss, sometimes two kisses!
Not that east coast people are stand offish, but they're just not as hands on. Well, in my stubborness, I still grab hold of people. And guess what? They're starting to hug back. And I think they're enjoying it! They're all smiling....

Today I started the process to nominate someone for a Governor's Service Award (he has no idea I am doing it) but in the process I made 2 people smile when I asked permission to use them as references for the award. I must admit it made ME smile too - thinking of him receiving the award he so richly deserves.

Hug somebody's neck - that is what they say in the south. Not so different from the Italian Irish heritage.

Today I can say - We have HEAT. One of the furnace motors died yesterday and we had freeze warnings last night. Within 15 minutes of me calling the plumber, a man was here. He "jerry-rigged" us - one of the brackets holding the motor broke and the motor needs to be replaced. The good part? - it got us through a sub-zero winter before it gave up.
And youngest daughter comes in today for her Spring visit. In a couple weeks she starts her annual bike training so she can patrol on bikes this summer. She beat out a lot of younger applicants (they have to pass a PT test and do training every year).
