I just got out of the bathroom, spent 45m to an hour scrubbing and cleaning. I had to wash the outside of the toilet, the shower, replace shower grip strips, wash the walls (yes, the walls!) the floor and then scrub down my hands and arms. Oh and the roll dispenser is also coming off the wall.
I was already not very happy with this guest, as I told someone, already They disconnected plugs, pulled cords from the wall, leaving a mark. Yeah, if you pull, even ʗȍɱɱɐɳɖ strips leave marks and tried my patience, complaining about stairs (they booked it, I didn't hold a damn gun to their head!) etc.
I'm contemplating going to the CʘȘʈ warehouse to buy a new mat, because there's a stain that I'm currently soaking...

I hate when one room takes all the cleaning patience I have.
We had a bathroom look like that once. Guest never said a word. I'm guessing due to embarrassment for what the bathroom looked like.
It took Gomez all day and we were still finding feces a week later. In the ceiling fan?! Behind a side table. On the underneath side of the sink. Thank goodness the door was closed! It would have been all over the carpet in the hallway.

Yeah, but I never thought that I would have to wash the walls of a bear called WInnie.
Still haven't been in the room. Don't know if I want to see the towels or the sheets. Or maybe they were spared. The hand towel in the bathroom was missing. And we had to say something to the other guests who will share the bathroom with them for the next door days.
I understand embarrassment, but it's only worse to try to hide it. Take out your damn wallet, pull out enough money so that it's not embarrassing and grease the palm of the housekeeper. Or tell us, so we could at least get it cleaned so that it's not embarrassing when someone else has to walk into the bathroom....

Yup. Because not doing that essentially says - it's your job to clean my ****. Which shows a remarkable lack of social IQ.

I'm so sorry Generic that this has happened to you.

I'm so traumatized that when I look at the clean white bleached towels from the dryer... I think there is a faint beige tinge to them.

OMG ...

No words , just no words for finding poo all over the place. Explosive D.
Wet and Forget Bathroom cleaner does a great job. Spray it all around and then go work on something else. Come back and rinse.
Are you saying this is a SHARED bath???

Yes, shared bath. This is NOT my normal clientele at all.
Our standard clientele thins between Labour Day and Thanksgiving, and we get some older clients, who book despite my stairs. For the most part, they are fine... But this seems to be a fish out of water. They need a hotel... And maybe living in a small town, they need to know how to live with others instead of away from others.
By Thanksgiving they will be displaced and my regular clientele will fill my rooms. It's odd though, it's just this month and most of them stay away because of the stairs. And those that book already always complain about the stairs... And yet the house pic we use specifically show how to the house is and the stairs to the front door.

to leave such a mess and in a shared bath ... just really trying to wrap my head around this!

to leave such a mess and in a shared bath ... just really trying to wrap my head around this!.
Me too. And some of the comments that this couple make certainly make me wonder.
It does show me one thing, though. That your experience when you visit certainly has a lot to do with you and that you can certainly ruin your own experience....
I have to warn the housekeeper today. I will have to walk in there before they do and make sure that it's "clean." But also to wear gloves when taking their towels, etc. One more night... one more night... one more night.

This is ongoing, not a one-time event?!?!

They are booked in here for a little over half a week... and there is just a day left. This particular incident was yesterday, but they have been a handful since their arrival. I'm always afraid about discussing things like this to specifically n public like this. Which is why I'm only telling about a quarter of the story.
Don't worry, they are now solidly on my DNB list and I'll add them to the national DNB list as well.

Wow! They are still there and don't seem to see an issue? Just wow.
Cannot wait for the rest of the story.

O.M.G. Wow. I haven't had the disgusting misfortune of experiencing something like this firsthand. However, I had 70yo guests last August who described the $#!t storm that they accidentally inflicted on a "mean" innkeeper and they laughed about it. Wife said, "I certainly got even with her!" Supposedly, the wife got food poisoning and tried unsuccessfully to make it into the enclosed shower. She laughed and said "it" was everywhere. I was mortified, but she thought it was hilarious. These same guests left me a 3-star review on Trip Advisor because the 3rd floor room had a lot of stairs, the bed was too soft, and the TV didn't work well (they couldn't figure out how to use the remote, even after 2 demonstrations). These guests were from Oklahoma.

How.... just... how?!?! I've been violently ill, but my $#!t has never literally hit the fan. I've had guests with Cron's disease and they manage to keep it in the bowl. My hubby has colitis and yet our bathroom has never looked like a demolished war zone. I don't understand what sort of biblical plague these guests must have to loose their bowels all over an entire bathroom.

As soon as you mentioned that, I had to go see my older reviews... I too had the misfortune of a bad review from that state. Not the same people.
What horrible people. That's why I sometimes post on guestchek, so others are warned.

They are gone.... I get my room and sanity back. No more sneaking up to the bathroom to make sure that it's clean for the other guest. We can open the window, clean everything and get the smell out. And never see them again.
Still complaining about the local restaurants... and yet I saw where they were eating from... take away and student restaurants.
The rugs go into the wash, the bedding goes into the wash, the room will be refreshed and all will be good with the world. I'm going to pull out some electrical cord holders and tack my cords back on the wall (and try to hide the hole now there). And welcome a new guest to my house. And I no longer need to hold my tongue and signal to guests when they recommend places so they know not to go there.
I am free. I am free. I am free.

When we get guests I don't like I always feel that cleaning the room is like an exorcism, sadly in this case the cleaning is above and beyond.

Sounds like you made it through with your sanity intact.
