Today, July 3, 2017, the Gillum House Bed & Breakfast becomes an adult. Today is our 21st Birthday. We had a guest on our first official night and actually have a guest tonight (GF). I will be making GF cupcakes in a few minutes.
Because we opened a B & B:
We traveled places we would not have gone to otherwise
We met 4 Governors
We were features on a national TV program segment
We found out about Post-Polio
We were able to tell a guest about Post-Polio
Himself became an artist who actually SOLD paintings
Became aware of and members of a BSA Motorcycle group - and through that met the people who invited us to exhibit\
Started B & Bs For Vets
Met many wonderful people (actually the #1 benefit)
I may not have a large bank account, but I am rich beyond words because I became an innkeeper.

Congratulations! 21 years is quite and accomplishment...way over the industry average for sure.

Happy 21! (We are 10 years this month)
And thanks for years of innspiring innsight. :)

Congratulations! Happy birthday and adulthood. I'll make it!

Could have been drinking for 5 years already around here. Congrats.

Congratulations!

Thanks to Kathleen I started taking road trips to visit other Innmates. She called me out of the blue to share a room with her at a regional meeting-was it at the Greenbrier? We broke in her new-fangled GPS machine, met 3 other Innmates (before we had named ourselves).
As a total neophyte to innkeeping she was one of many who helped me get started. Guests often say "you've thought of everything" Little do they know how much I owe to you old-timers.
November makes 10 years for me. I don't post as much because I'm a Luddite these days and have little "cutting edge" advice to give, but read all the posts. I still love road trips and still might inflict myself on some more of y'all. Might even have to check out Gillum's car charger.
Indiana is so far off everyone's radar but the welcome mat is always out.

It was the Homestead in Virginia. We left thre and the stupid Gertrude took us down a road that even a West Virginian looked at with a WTF in January as we went to see JB. Wonderful trip. It was worth breaking a muffler strap. I never just take a trip - it always ends up an Adventure.

You are truly my inspiration. I wish for half as much energy as you have and hope you a Ex around for a long time! Although been very busy to post much, I've been reading all the posts s and living them all.
Congrats Gillum House and to K!

Congratulations! Or is it Happy Birthday?! I agree that the best part is meeting the most wonderful guests from various backgrounds and places. May you have a blessed 21st year.

Congratulations. You are strong and durable !
