When there is a hurricane they don't count the other states in the revenue loss but those who live there cancel their trips, even though they are supposed to evacuate. Those who watch the weather channel who think it may bring rain to their houses, cancel, and so on and so on.
In the end even if you are nowhere near the hurricane you lose business, and they don't ask us, and we can't tell them. But now we are down to just one room for this weekend, we live in the mountains (for anyone who doesn't know).
The only room remaining is a repeat who was here 10 years ago and will probably think we have done zero marketing since then when they are the only ones staying here on a holiday weekend, someone send me some tissue...por favor.

Vacation rental booked for the weekend. One nighters. Inside rooms both one nighters Saturday. Nothing inside for tonight. Concert featuring a well known rock star, who stays pretty anonymous but locals know him is part of our grange hall concert fundraiser tonight. I FB'd it last night (not naming but with a link to the local write up about it) saying we have rooms. Lots of looks, some likes but no bites.

So sorry this storm also affected you that way, JB!
Luckily, it skirted to the South/Southeast of us. Not even a drop of rain here. There are almost 60K people in my State without power last I heard. One of my brothers is one mile from the coast in the next state north of me and they are getting hit with lots of rain, but so far no big wind. They got everything outside secured just in case, thanks to the advance notice on the storm's track though.
Hope everyone in this storm's path is OK!!

My friend is vacationing in Tampa this week. Rained for three days. She should be home in time to see the same storm hit the coast here! Timing.

Your friend like our friend? "Hey lets go visit your brother and family this weekend."
Us: "Are you crazy?!? There's a hurricane coming up the coast!"
Her: "Yeah! I know! Let's go!"

Sorry JB - I sure know the feeling!!!
Since the floods hit our state last month we have had zip in business and have had cancellations for later this year as they 'don't want to visit right now'. The badly flooded area is 50+ miles from here and would not affect their visit to our surrounding areas.

Run for the hills, everyone! An hurricane is coming!!! Here grab a box of tissues on your way out the door for the Bloggs.
So sorry to hear that you are suffering from the hurricane when you aren't anyway near it! We have one room from FL. Told us during check in that the hurricane should be hitting their area just around now….
Edited: We are full, on an island, in its path, etc. Weird. I don't get it. They should all be canceling here instead.
Edited again: They are from FL, SC, NYC, NJ, CT…. Oh, its just everyday life stuff lets go to Duff's Place!

I got tired of dealing with people coming up with weather related issues. People who come from areas that have a lot of snow and it's 60 degrees here. So we suggested everyone purchase Travel Insurance. This way if something happens you both are covered. It's worked great. You get paid and the guess get their money back. Something to think about doing JB.

Yes, timing indeed.

My brother got 11 inches of rain in a very short time. Some flooding, but luckily no damage to their property. He lives about a mile from the coast.
Hope that everyone else who was in this storm's path fared as well!!!
