A step in the right direction! But congress needs to revisit the do not call list law and do away with that "prior business relationship" loophole.
They won't do it, of course, since they don't do anything. But they need to.
I've received a couple of notices lately that people are filing class action suits against companies that send junk solicitation faxes. Most of the violators are banks wanting your CC processing business, and the judgments are typically around $900,000.
They tell me my cut of that will be about $30 if I go online and join the "class". I've researched them and they seem to be legit so I'm signing up. I'm glad to get $30, and glad the junk faxers are finally getting some punishment! They're worse than calls that waste my time. They waste my paper and toner! Don't like.
And don't bother with "Fax? Why do you need a fax in 2016?" In my case, it's a necessity for my other business..
Do you know when faxes are coming in? We keep our fax machine turned off until we get a call saying someone is sending a fax. It's on maybe an hour to receive the fax, then back off again.Arks said:And don't bother with "Fax? Why do you need a fax in 2016?" In my case, it's a necessity for my other business.
We bought a fax service. $36 a year. A fax comes in, we get it in email. We can also fax on their website or directly from email. (And yes, they have local numbers all over US & Canada). They even offer portability, to move your fax line to virtual.A step in the right direction! $30 well ok, is that before the lawyers get their take? I just got a check from a Class Action from a mobile phone company associated with the big 3 lettered phone company. Before everyone comes down here as my best friend, my check was for $0.17. A friend of mine got $1.47, guess he had been with them longer. Too bad they don't take these measly payouts and sent a nice size check to a worthy charity. The time put forth to create the check, the paper, envelope and mail cost for each of these tokens would make for a nice donation.Arks said:I've received a couple of notices lately that people are filing class action suits against companies that send junk solicitation faxes. Oh, that must be amusing for them... well, first several times at the very least. Although I doubt the robot is good at natural language processing. It should sooo frustrating to talk to it.Morticia said:I haven't tried this yet but I keep seeing it in my news feed
