We are interviewing for a new chamber maid - does anyone have any suggested questions? or an application form? our currant lady does 7 days a week and has been here 9 years so we don't have a lot of experience in the selection process so any hints and tips appreciated

We have laws here restricting the kind of questions we can ask.
So, see if they ask their own questions. What kind of questions. How they are dressed. If they're talking the interview seriously. Or acting like the job is no big deal. Do they keep checking their mobile or are they paying attention.
We do ask if they are available for the hours we need, can they work extra hours if needed.
I'm surprised every year by people who say, in the interview, "oh, I can't work weekends." The job description stresses being able to work weekends.

Will you actually show up if I hire you?
We've had more than one who accepted the job and then disappeared.
On the other hand, we have one who can't wait for the season to start so she can come back!

My grandparents made a point of waiting by a window to see how the person drove in, get out of the car, and walked into the building. They said that was important how they acted when they thought no one was looking. Were they early, on time, late, etc. How were they dressed. Their attitude, etc. You can train but not that stuff.

We are trying a 2 person split - 1 monday to friday and 1 or 2 for weekends - being very clear with the weekend people that it will be EVERY weekend
