There was no McDonalds, no DD, no gas station, no public restrooms, no library, no cell towers, no cell service, no coffee shop, no wifi (except with me) nada for miles. Going the speed limit, about 30 minutes to the gas station with restroom. Sometimes the general store opened their restroom to the public, most of the time they did not. The little restaurant wouldn't let you in to use their restroom unless you were dining there. And that's if they were open. There was an ice cream shop - but no restroom and no wifi. No public restroom up at the lighthouse. Travelers would show up at the door just out of their minds ... I get it.
So ... plus side of being on the coast at the end of the road if you were just too tired to even think about turning around and driving back for miles and miles, you came to my door and asked if I had a room. Negative side, I had to share my own bathroom with people desperate to use one. I just had to.
I don't know what the new owner did when remodeling, but I would've put in a tiny rest room somewhere near the library just inside the front door. She added a bar/cafe in the barn on the property, I assume with restroom, and is making lots of money there.
