Well, last night I had the second attempt at fraud. I was suspicious when I got an email from the guest with a different name than the reservation and a different name from the name of the guest checking in. So first things first... I do an AUTH. It comes back fine, so the card isn't reported stolen. I check with my processor, everything's fine. Still suspicious, call BK ask if this is the guest's first reservation, yes. He checks by phone number... nope, at least a few reservations with different names and CC numbers and addresses.
Well, this ruined our evening's plans, I can't do a self-checkin for this character. We wait for his arrival, it passes. Text back that closing soon.... tells us 20 minutes. Shows up 20 minutes later. Told him we need CC and ID. In short, he splits quickly. I call CC company and report card as Code 10, which forces them to call the cardholder. Supposed to tell me what happens after that.
My side, I lost at least 2 nights because of this, but I could have lost more. Had discussion with BK and changed my listing to indicate that ID and CC must be in hand at check-in. And that BK should have caught this because of the phone number repeats.
