So, we went away for the weekend over our southern border and we stayed at a "Spanish Country House". I'll be honest, never staying here again. The dust at the top of the mirror where the housekeeper can't reach is one thing, but it's just not for us. (We can tell when everyone showers.
But this morning we were having "breakfast" and there was a man who walked over and thanked them for the great breakfast that they served. And that is when I realized that some people don't know what a good breakfast is.
So, here is my perspective on what was served... the coffee was made from coffee syrup, yes, like a Coca Cola syrup, syrup mixed with water (or as our friend calls it, puddle water.) The syrup was tapped from a "Malted", it must have been, it was malted syrup. The individually wrapped muffins had sugar as the first ingredient... yes... wheat was second! The Styrofoam plates, individually wrapped everything and plastic cutlery just spoke of the quality of the offerings.
If this is what people think it's a great breakfast, what do I have?

In the big city, near the mall? We stay at a place down the road (near the diner) that is much worse but a lot cheaper. ;-) altho, seriously, for $35/night it's pretty clean.

In the county where we first considered buying, we would have been r e q u i r e d to serve pre-packaged, not made on site food. I suspect health requirements are part of the picture where you stayed.
I used to drink coffee syrup, but home made. It can be very good.

We paid $62. Normal price is $100. It wasn't worth the $62, never mind the $100. It was clean(ish), but so noisy.

Hit the nail on the head. People think this is the real deal. Honestly! The hotel near me gets rave reviews online about their breakfast. I have seen it. Packaged everything, even the 'freshly' made egg? dish in the steamer. But the reviews all rave about it.
Those poor people don't know any better!
Then there are those that do get it. A 30ish couple this weekend. When I charged their card he said, no qualms - a nice room and quality breakfast to boot!

I assure you.. the coffee wasn't good at all. My friend called it puddle water.

We are currently staying at the best option in the area and, yikes.. we are so so spoiled at home. the big highlight of breakfast was that they put out one grapefruit with the oranges. We snatched and scarfed. I am amazed at the amount of carbs people are consuming.
