Wishing you the best. You are now broken in!

Just manage yourself with care, so you do not get broken down!

That is a great point. Shelley and I have already exchange a few snappy comments...well, mostly by me. After our first weekend, we had the floors done. The guy finished with them Friday morning, so it was full tilt go go go to get ready for the incoming guests. We're not all together, but mostly together.

In my experience, the first year is the toughest on the relationship. Learning to work together 24/7 is a big adjustment for most. Any cracks in your relationship will show when you're stressed and telling each other what to do. Don't beat yourselves up. Tomorrow is another day.

I agree 100%. It took a while but now we run like well oiled machine. Each knows where and when they are the boss and when they are the lackey.

We have been together in the same house for more than the usual time one spends with spouse for most of our 40 years together. We have been in the same house 24/7 for over 20 years now and in July we start #20 of the B & B. Himself STILL has not learned to SHUT UP already and the solution to that is I just walk away doing a mental mumble or go outside with a vocal mumble, flipping the bird in both instances. His role in this is to do the dishes and run the vac downstairs - he is less able to help every year - BUT he is never wrong, just ask him.
You will work it out between you. Set aside an area that belongs to each of you - even if it is just a corner of a room in your quarters - that belongs to YOU, a do not mess with it zone (or me when I am in it). What saves us is he has taken over the "living room" of our quarters as his art studio and I have made my office to "supposed to be" my area (in MY mind anyway).

I think you are in it to win it!
Well done Christopher and Shelley who went from aspiring to perspiring innkeepers lightning fast.

Now just make sure all those porch sitters are paying admission. Good move to have a lack of arms for those playing instruments, and larger folks, vs just rockers.
Here is something you may wish to entertain: Porch Sitters Union. You can put up a plaque and have charter members and start a union of your own and fly with it on your blog. Google "Porch Sitters Union" if you haven't already. If I was starting afresh I would do this, I would have a wall of fame (photos) on the porch, and where the guests are from. Whatever you do, make it shareable online. :)
One last comment - go to your porch and have someone take a photo of you two in two rockers. Hold some iced tea or lemonade. Just do it, don't wait, you will be so happy to have the photo - now, early on. Then go to the website and get rid of that big blurry night-time restaurant photo and replace it with the happy go lucky "Welcome to the porch y'all" innkeepers. (PS If you don't do it now you will be sorry - trust me). and CONGRATS!

I am so happy for y'all. I'm glad you had such a great first weekend. Just remember to have fun, 'cause you're living your dream.

Innkeep is from the land of "you guys", but she's traveled south to Arkansas twice in the last 3 years, so she's now able to use "y'all" like a pro! :)

Hey she lived in Tennessee I think that qualifies her as a pro, er, well you know what I mean.
