Odd places guests put things

Not a rant ... no no. Just wondering where you find things after guests have gone.
Just was putting furniture back where it belongs in two guest rooms. I think one guest was using a cpap machine and rearranged the furniture to suit. Also they left behind a power strip. I couldn't find a small chair and finally located it down a flight of stairs in the breakfast room. Wow. I don't know why they didn't just push it into a corner or out in the hall. But to lug it all the way down the stairs?
Lamp was nowhere to be found ... although I did find a small end table stashed in the closet. Was afraid maybe the lamp got broken. Wasn't under the bed. Then I spotted the cord over by the window ... they put it on the window sill and pulled down the mini blinds. Luckily the window ledge was wide enough to hold it safely. The lamp shade was in the bathroom. Wondering if guests are playing games. Or if there is a little dimentia.
Odd one of the day ... a plate ... a big, heavy breakfast plate ... in the bureau, second drawer down. You know, sometimes I want to be a slacker. Not wanting to check all the drawers. But ... one must. So. Pulling open drawers quickly just to be sure nothing is left behind. And I heard it and felt it shift inside as I pulled the drawer, so opened it slowly. Never expected to find a dirty plate in there. And candy wrappers. Lots of candy wrappers.

We found the bathroom shelving unit in the bedroom with a ton of stuff on it. They did not use the dresser drawers.

SS your story takes the cake.
the last one I had was my small tent card with Wifi & Netflix info on it. Searched the entire room and had basically given up. Found it on the opposite end of the balcony precariously hanging on the railing.

I had one like your last story, I believe I came here asking y'all about it. She hid apples behind pillows and cookies in drawers. She was with her grown daughter here.
Day 1 of freshening I didn't know what to do! At check out it was easy enough to discard the items.

Some like to rearrange the room ... I think I've read here that guests have said it makes the room better.
Hiding food and dishes in drawers, surely there is some issue there.
Hiding furnishings or taking them out of the room is so odd! But please don't put room furnishings in the bathroom. Or in another part of the b&b!
Years ago someone put a lovely upholstered chair in their en suite bathroom. Who knows why. To be comfy while drying their hair or cutting their toenails, maybe. Barely could squeeze it through the doorway.

I had to hunt high and low to find a glass ring holder I had in the ensuite. A pretty but useful item my Mom gave me. Finally found it (after deciding it must have gone home in luggage - on the window sill in the bathroom, behind the drapes.
The thing that played hide & seek the most though, was the bed post in the Gillum Room. After being leaned on by so many of the men as I gave the welcome tour, it loosened up so much we had to use a dowel rod to hold it in place. Then a friend pointed out that post was smack in the way of the TV and he solved the problem by picking the post up and putting it in the corner. So I started showing that to guests as I put it in the corner by the fireplace. There were a couple times I almost called the guest to ask WHERE DID YOU PUT IT?

Whatever next? Steamer trunks? I suggested my guests who were just with me for one night before taking a ferry to the island for one or two weeks use a duffle bag. They didn't like my suggestion and I know it's a hassle to pick and choose but it's just for one night. I still think it's a good idea. Some kind of packable , stretchy overnight bag so you don't bring all that stuff in and out in the morning.

Hauling them all up and down stairs every night = smart. NOT!

I had one totally rearrange the room even the - heavy as lead queen bed. The wife was shocked as I had been when she found out that I had gone in the room to fluff. My guess is they had planned to put it all back before they left.

I had one totally rearrange the room even the - heavy as lead queen bed. The wife was shocked as I had been when she found out that I had gone in the room to fluff. My guess is they had planned to put it all back before they left.

Every once in a while I am forced to do this. Rent a cabin that looks out on a lake and the bed faces the inside wall and closet.
So I will move the bed to look out on the lake. I know it is not convenient to make up the bed and more where I moved it, so I will carefully move it back before I leave.

Drawers and guests leaving things behind is such a nuisance for me because they want me to mail them back (immediately of course). Was just buying 2 night stands for my new room and the rule was "no drawers"!!!

Housekeeper found a teabag on the outside of the windowsill today. (Also had to explain the slang term, too.)

DH found a pair of shoes. Boxed it up and headed to the post office within the hour.
While he was gone, I got a call asking if we'd found a pair of shoes. I had no idea, so I said I'd have DH call them back.
By the time he spoke to the guest, he had already mailed the shoes back to them. He refused payment. They are very happy.
