No worries this year

Guests booked a boat cruise that leaves in less than an hour. They showed up for breakfast at the last possible moment. In tank tops and shorts.
I mentioned the possibility of it being a bit colder on the water. That's not what they're wearing to the boat, that's their pajamas.
So boat is 45 minutes away, they aren't dressed and they just sat down to eat.
Not my job to worry this year.

me: The ferry to the island leaves at 10:30. Boards at 10:15. Anyone going to the island should get ready to go.
guests: We have plenty of time. They won't leave without us, we bought tickets.
me: They leave on schedule. They won't wait for you.
10:10 am
Laundry service pickup has come and gone. Breakfast is over. I encounter guests talking in the library.
me: I thought you'd gone! The ferry to the island leaves at 10:30 - it's 10:10 - I can see passengers boarding from the window. you have to hurry down to the dock.
guests: They won't leave without us, we bought tickets.
me: It's like a plane - they won't wait for you. Hurry over there ... right now.
Guests head upstairs to their room.
11 am
I'm still doing dishes ... door slams, guests enter breathless and arguing.
guests: The *#@!!* ferry left without us!

Morticia, you're right. It's not your job to worry. But I always did. I often wonder if people act this way all the time or only while on vacation.

I can so relate! They have a reservation or paid their ticket so the world stops for them..... NOT!
Not your worry. Somehow they made it though life to this point, they will make it (or not) with out you.
What gets me is that sometimes we get a call from the tour asking where are the customers - like we are their care takers.

Reminds me of people who remarked at the "lovely little cup holders" on the PC (the CD drive). Or calls to tech support, that finally determine that either the computer was not plugged in or not turned on.
Every now and then, there is a person who manages to be born without a brain. How they manage to get into adulthood is the mystery.

This cruise asks me for the guest's cell. Gomez said they got a call and ran out the door. In shorts and tank tops. Yeah it was 80 today but not this morning.

I get this with Taxi's - people are at a conference say 1000 people, conference finishes at 3pm so all 1000 people will be heading out to their various destinations all at the same time
therefore I tell my people "book your taxi this morning" really? they say "yes because you don't want to be at the back of the 1000 people que at 3pm!" oh yes I never thought of that!
