I received this email earlier this week:
That's right - we created a mobile app for your business!
I'm Kim from Appsme and our team has already done the hard work for you. All that's left is for you to customize it. Hit the big button below to preview the Bed & Breakfast app and learn more about all the changes you can make, amazing features and affordable plans.
I already have a responsive site so I could not see the need for an app for my little B&B. I forwarded it to my web developers (Acorn IS) and here is their reply:
You are correct: you do not need a mobile app as you have a responsive website that works perfectly on mobile devices - all devices.
Lisa or Annie may have other suggestions, this is my suggestion: take the same action you took with Buuteeq. Demand that they remove any and all of your website content from their servers immediately as their unauthorized actions may compromise your unique content and current good standing with Google. I would tell them you plan to report them to Google, PAII, Better Business Bureau (PA & NY), Eric Schneiderman - New York State Attorney General (their phone number is a Manhattan number) if they do not remove your content from their servers immediately and that you require a confirmation when that action has been taken. If you have a friend who is an attorney, I would copy them on the email - even if your attorney friend doesn't take any action on your behalf. Might as well pull out the big guns and let them know you mean business.
Since they are based in the UK, maybe Scotland Yard too? It is unfortunate that they are out of the country, but you can still make some noise on this.
You could also post up something on the forums you are on to inquire whether other innkeepers have received similar emails from this group. If everyone responded to them in kind, that would go a long way to let them know you are informed and mean business.
Acorn suggested that alert other innkeepers on forums SO - you have the story so far! Consider yourself alerted...
