Mystery Egg

A friend of mine staying at Comfort Inn posted this photo of the egg she got off their breakfast buffet this morning. Note the white circle just inside the outer edge of the flat, hard yellow. Her question: how was this egg prepared?
Any ideas?

I don't see a picture, but these days, I see a lot of recipes for baked eggs that are supposed to look like poached eggs. You bake them in cupcake pans.

They tried to move it before it was set.

All the eggs we had at a HIE were precooked. They were exactly the same size and shape. This may have been made inside an egg ring.

yummy. pre-cooked in egg ring and maybe flash frozen to be reheated like at mcd's ... looks like it started to dry out and separate ...

I recently stayed in a Hamp ton Inn. The breakfast was vile. The 'omlette' was filled with cheese product. The pancakes were made by a machine. You press the button and a rubbery round food-like thing comes out. The fruit was uncut bananas and apples. I ate instant oatmeal in a cup. It was delicious.
I had to laugh at the Styrofoam plates and plastic utensils after reading about reusing my bath towel to 'save the planet.' Yeah, whatever.

Next time I make baked ham-egg cups I will try to remember to look for that. Doubt if I would see it though since there is a dab of sour cream, chives, and shredded cheddar on the eggs in the ham cup.
Eggs were "on sale" this week for $1.99 but I think I will still make pancakes & bacon for Saturday morning - since the consensus here is that people do not have pancakes at home.

My DH travels a lot for work and usually stays at the Comfort/Hampton Inn chain. He refers to this as the 'breakfast disc'.
