LED Mood lighting

I wonder if anyone has had success with LED strips for mood lighting in guest bedrooms.
We've just decorated our most popular room (I know someone here said they liked the black wallpaper just a few days ago, but as I was fed up with it and it's been 5 years since that room was done it needed a refresh). I bought a warm white 4m strip to experiment with, in the photo it's just laying on the floor across the wall behind the bed and I already like the effect.
I had wondered about putting it under the bed with a movement sensor so it would light when people get up to go to the loo in the night, but hopefully not wake their partner.
We stayed in a hotel recently who had it behind the headboard which was a nice effect.
Any ideas or experiences welcome.

Well that's just marvelous....... after about 15 minutes of having my "mood lighting" on while I took photos the LED strip blew the house fuse and no longer works.
I deliberately avoided the cheap strips from china and bought a set with a UK plug from a UK company too.
That's the end of my experimentation in the bedroom, for now.
I think you were right though, this one is a bit too bright for a night light.

I vote Nooooo on the 'movement sensor' ... if a couple gets amorous in the dark, will the light flash on and off?

I've had LED lighting behind one of my headboards for several years. Not strips, but a couple of regular bulbs. They do a nice job of indirectly lighting the area and washing the ceiling above the bed with light.

From a practical standpoint - floor placement will highlight every uneven place in the carpet and every speck of dust.
I find the look reminiscent of a carnival. But I’m hopelessly old fashioned. A bright bedside lamp placed high enough for the light to fall on the book on my lap is so appreciated - and rarer than it should be. The wall mounted light looks perfect. And the room is lovely and inviting.

Consider getting the Philips Hue. It's pretty impressive and you can even set up some programming for it, including movement detectors. The light bulbs are interesting as well. We put up two light bulbs and two spots and then set up a dimmer. The dimmer can be taken off the wall. The guests can dim the room lights and turn on/off the lights. When you turn off and then back on, it resets to standard (full) intensity.

This entire post made me giggle, especially this sentence. I love the decor in the room! It looks modern while still warm & inviting. The sconces are perfectly placed by the bed and provide abundant light. I don't think additional lighting is needed.

I'm glad of that, that was the look I was aiming for. This is a modern house so there's no point filling the rooms with antiques and chintz.

Mine is an old house and I have all my lace curtains in a bag ready to go to Goodwill next week.
Always trying to keep up with what works well.

We're a modern place, built 2009 to be the B&B, but I'd find that kind of a gimmick and distracting -- as animals, we expect light to come from above. We have 12 VDC (on house UPS) LED ceiling light in each bathroom which solves the stumble to the loo problem. A plug-in LED night light would be just as useful.
