So, I'm enjoying a hot cocoa and a scone at the local coffee joint. Woman at the next table is talking to someone about a job interview.
She finishes with her call, looks at me and says, "it's so hard to find a job. I don't know where they got my resume from. It's not a job I know how to do but you have to apply for everything."
She went on like that for awhile telling me there were no jobs out there.
She essentially gave me her resume in the ten minutes she talked non stop to me.
Being the good, helpful citizen I am I told her about 3 jobs that fit what she wants to do. Asked her had she checked them out. Apparently they wouldn't even talk to her.
So I then mentioned a few other places where she could look online for local jobs. "They won't have anything." How about Craigslist? "That's no good."
Everything I told her about where I KNOW local business owners list their openings she either said there were no jobs on there or looked at me like she'd never heard of those organizations (after working in town here for 15 years) .
And everything I said was interrupted to tell me how hard it is to find a job. (She also kept interrupting the person who called her for the interview.)
A big, online home goods retailer is opening a call center here. Supposedly real jobs with benefits. No, she didn't want to do that.
I gave up. But if she finds my job listing there's no way I could work with her.
