I Love Inns BOGO's

I'm looking at signing up for this and just read the clauses (aka fine print). The one clause that gets me is that if I sign up for this anyone who buys this place is responsible to carry on whatever I sign up for. The question is- do you sign up every year to participate in this or is it a 'once and you're in for life' kind of thing? If I cancel my membership down the line, do I have to honor the BOGO's forever? If this doesn't work out, I don't want to be in it forever and have these things pop up years from now. So, anyone who is accepting the BOGO's, do they have an expiration date? Have you wondered how you would handle this section of the rules:
Binding on Successors: If during the term of this Agreement or the Promotion, or any extension thereof, Participant shall sell the business, or substantially
all of the assets of the business, Participant shall, as a condition of such sale, notify and require the purchaser thereof to assume Participant’s obligations
under this Agreement. Since it is impossible to revoke Certificates, or other promotional materials once they have been prepared and placed into distribution,
Participant understands that failure to honor such materials and/or failure to cause this Agreement to be assumed by a successor will cause irreparable harm
to AHI and the Sponsor(s), and therefore AHI and Sponsor(s) shall be entitled to injunctive relief, including specific performance to this Agreement. The prevailing
party in any action arising from this Agreement shall be entitled to recover attorney’s fees, costs and expenses.

No way, wouldn't do it. I never read that fine print. But I would cancel my listing with them, done voila. No more BOGO's. The new owners can sign up if they wish.
It might just pertain to keeping existing bookings - so if it is already reserved as a BOGO then the new owners honor that.

That makes sense. The new owners would have to honor any reservations made. But, it seems that it means that anyone who shows up with a BOGO for my place (is that how it works or is it a generic BOGO to be used wherever it is accepted?) would have to be honored forever. I don't see where there is an expiration on the promo.

Generic. Used at any participating Inn. AND I dont think anyone can show up with them, they have to reserve in advance. But I cannot recall the verbiage on it. I have only had ONE. To date. They also said the books were out of print - I wanted to mention this, so they purchased the BOGO GC. Guys, what does that mean, out of print? Sure as heck cheaper (than actually printing them) and here I go just for the halibut... greener... to have it all online instead of printing it. Internet is TREE-FREE.

All of the things that you mentioned are why I didn't sign up for it when I did my listing. Things are just too complicated sometimes!

I printed the form out, I may try it for one year. But they don't say when the year begins. I could send it in now and find out it doesn't even 'start' until summer '09!

I read the description for the book. You have to have the cert in the book but you can use it at places that are newly listed, but not in that edition of the book.

They also run specials and contests where you can get a BOGO certificate - they did one with Norelco not too long ago. Those are sent or printed out without the requirement of buying a book.

Nope this was the BOGO WITH THE BOOK they had without the book. I didn't really care at the time as they tried to CONVINCE ME AND FORCE me to mail it in so I could be reimbursed. If I had not mentioned to the forum, I made sure this couple knew that iloveinns was NOT THE ONE giving them the FREE NIGHT. FYI the guests all think that.
I told them WE, THE INNKEEPERS are giving you the free night. It took a while to get this point across, the main reason being they kept telling me "It says right here for YOU to mail it in" and I stated it would actually cost me a STAMP and envelope, we do not get reimbursed. !!!!

Two separate things...yes, an extra BOGO cert for buying the book before Oct whatever date. And then buy an actual paid GC in whatever dollar amount. 2 different options, 2 different lists, altho you could be on both lists.
Which would concern me now that I've mentioned it. How much does the innkeeper get if a guest uses the paid GC? I would NOT take both the GC and the BOGO, if there is a processing fee for the GC.
