I don't know whether to be happy, sad, worried, relieved, or scared!

First of all, I am proud to be a flag-waving, card-carrying member of the POLITICALLY CORRECT LIBERAL persuasion, as proud as any of you are of your heritage and beliefs. I would NEVER, EVER suggest that you (any of you) don't have the right to any of them, or to speak as you wish on any of them. I don't care that several forum members think that being POLITICALLY CORRECT (the negatively nasty way to describe sensitivity to words that might reinforce negative stereotypes) and LIBERAL makes me weak-minded or weak-willed or both. I have plenty of friends who have different belief systems and we still are able to enjoy each other's company, so I'm good. There are lots of political forums, and even other innkeeping forums (closed ones), where you can say lots of off-topic stuff about your politics and beliefs and you will be welcomed with open arms.
THIS FORUM IS ABOUT INNKEEPING. We moved away from responding to undersea's comments as innkeepers (or former innkeepers) giving advice to another potential innkeeper - and that stuff doesn't really belong on the forum. It becomes open to interpretation, and it stirs the pot, and sometimes the stuff in the pot goes the wrong way. I hope the whole thread gets deleted - it's appalling that a potential guest (or that flippin' Bob and Emily writer) would find that thread and draw conclusions about innkeepers from it.
I am no longer an innkeeper, or am only one for short periods of time, so it appears that my opinion has little value now - SO BE IT. Three forum members didn't like that post. That's what it takes for a post to disappear. I did NOT flag the post. We don't get to define what other people might find offensive. It seems awfully hard to avoid that even when we talk about real innkeeping stuff - someone says tip envelopes are tacky; another would rather feed her guests bleach than feed them Carbona waffle mix. Really? It would be nice to stop looking for trouble, stop judging each other so harshly, and stop being snarky as opposed to funny. We all know the difference. I'll try if you will.

Yes, but for many of is, it's not JUST about innkeeping. I wouldn't be here daily if it was only about innkeeping. I'd just pop in when I had a problem or question, which, fortunately, has become a rarity as I've gained experience.
I'm here every day because it's a lot more to me that just being about innkeeping.

Yowza, guess I too missed a storm here since I don't log onto the forum that often.

Sometimes I'm glad that I'm a "former" innkeeper and my contributions don't seem to be deemed as important. And, yes...I do feel that way. For whatever that's worth, under this topic of honesty project.
Having said that without applying my particular "label" to this post...I agree with Muirford that it is not respectful to tromp on anyone.
I don't know what stirred the pot this time, but religion and politics continue to pop up on this innkeeping forum and with folks from all different backgrounds that participate in the discussion here, we all need to mindful of just that. This is NOT about political correctness, but it's about respect.
People can be upbeat, positive, frustrated, overwhelmed, irritated, overjoyed, and so much more here within the context of the passion that is innkeeping. I'd like the discussion to keep going, but for everyone to remember that there's a variety of folks on the other side of the screen. Life goes on....
