Hand Sanitizer or Wipes

I was thinking about putting a big pump bottle of hand sanitizer, or some sanitizing towelettes, in the guest rooms, both as a nice feature, and to help protect me from them!
But then I thought of the drawbacks:

• They would take the whole bottle.
• They would refill their travel bottles from my supply.
• It might make them think about need for sanitization in the room when they otherwise wouldn't have.

Any thoughts from you? Good idea or bad idea?

...and take the ones from your front desk when you're not looking! Might have to go with a wall-mounted dispenser like hospitals use.

I have a 25 gal. crock in each bathroom (always have from day 1) with the bathroom cleaning supplies in it. Clorox wipes (or a version of) have always been in there. Never been taken yet - of course we did not have this Sky is falling prior - and it will continue to bein the crock. No front desk here either.

I've had a bottle in the Main House for years. No one's taken it yet, but given the latest public paranoia and scarcity, I'm sure someone eventually will.

I just helped a friend install touchless hand sanitizer dispensers. (okay, he installed the mounting plates and I put the sanitizer in.) They were surprisingly inexpensive and look great. Made by Gojo and bought from webstaurant store .com They use 4D batteries. Come in chrome, white, black and grey. They have some units that are less expensive, some more ... a little savings if you buy quantity. These were around $25 including mounting bracket. But you had to get the Gojo sanitizer for these. Other brands I saw you could use other sanitizer and more color options.
So far these are holding up well and visitors are happy to see them. I like that they are touchless.

I am VERY new to the B&B arena, but one thing i did add to my rooms are - Make up Remover wipes so they do not use the washclothes and a full bottle of lotion per room. And now with what is happening out there, I probably will add a bottle of Hand Sanitizer. I have only had 1 customer take something and that was by mistake.
I do worry about staying open however, this is my full time job and was doing okay until the Corona hit and now I am a bit stressed out.

Take a deep breath.This too shall pass. Members have weathered Katrina, Sandy, Harvey, floods, 2008, 2010. fires in California, Australia, and other areas. We will survive this too. Stay cool. Prayers help.
I am not in a revolving door tourist area so I guess I am not as stressed and many. I still have a few bloodied fingernails left.
AND someone dragged a virus across the Potomac or the Shenandoah River from DC. We now have 1.

there really isn’t any reason to have hand sanitizer in the guest rooms. once in their rooms, guests should use soap and water, which is more effective.
Perhaps at your check in area or breakfast area where they don’t have access to a sink, but not necessary in the rooms.

What can I say, we are a trusting people. The borders are about all that is open now. Mass is cancelled. Chapel is closed. Events and meetings cancelled. Now restaurants, bars,and casinos are toclose. Sports and schools closed last week. TV not worth watching. DAMN!! I may have to actually walk the rail-trail out of boredom!!!

W have a wall mounted pump in the entryway. I pointed it out to guests that checked in last night. It was in use within minutes. I have someone booked for three nights next week. He is here to do some work in the surgery rooms at the local hospital. Now it’s a case of will he or won’t he?

Had an emergency guest last night from WV. (Her daughter was across the border in Canada and she called me panicked, thinking she'd be stranded there). I drove across, picked her up, and came back with her until her mother arrived to spend the night and then turn around for the 12 hour drive home today.
The daughter made an interesting point. She said the only reason WV had no cases reported for so long was that it was a very poor state, and most of the residents couldn't afford to get tested. She said she felt certain there were plenty of cases there, they just hadn't been diagnosed yet.

There are some who think we just already been there, done that. Nov thru Jan there were some schools that closed for a couple days due to teachers, bus drivers (so much consolidation of schools that some kids spend an hour each way - the max allowed by the Legislature), and students absent because they were sick with the flu - aka WV Crud. This time it took as much as 3 -4 weeks to recover which is why we think it done been & gone.
WV is acrually a rich State - rich in natural beauty and resources (we have been conned to refer to us as a poor State for generations) that unfortunately has most of the profits generated from our resources going out of State with not enough reinvested IN the State. As in most States, we have our "pockets of poverty" that is generational. Coal is still an important part of our economy and since we lost our glass industry toimports and plastics became even more important, but we ARE diversifying and tourism has started to make more of an impact than coal. Once again, something that is the middle of disaster.

We have put Hands-Free hand sanitizers in the main entry, dining room and the commons area. Bathrooms have plenty of soap. Disinfecting wipes at the main entry for guests (and us to keep the doorknobs clean).
No wipes in the rooms or commons areas, I'll use our hospital grade disinfectant spray when I clean before during and after guests are here.
