feels like a vacation

Had two rooms, three people last night. This morning, DH was feeling like he was on vacation.
I made up three fruit cups instead of the usual fruit platter or big serving bowl. It was fun and felt more personal.
He is making egg cups instead of the usual vat of 24 scrambled eggs. He seems so relaxed.

One room is here visiting our neighbor so they are gone most of the time (here 11 days) and the other is a mom and twin daughters having a "princess house" vacation complete with at least seven dolls. The other room came last night and is on "business trip" plus vacation.

I got up and had coffee with DH this morning. NO guest breakfasts. Only apartment check in today so no in-house guests till Sat!
Only two guest breakfasts yesterday so spent the balance of the day canning garden tomatoes with Dad.
August is now behind us. A record breaking one, so a feeling of accomplishment. Now to catch up on all the outdoor chores before the really bad weather hits.
But so enjoying today.

Welcome to our world! 3 accommodations, max of 6 people...when we only have 2 filled it feels like a vacation for us.

We simply can't imagine what most of you experience with 6-12 rooms and lots of turnover. I can say that we genuinely enjoy chatting with guests at breakfast, getting to know them individually.

We did enjoy a bottle of wine at the beach last night.
Felt very freeing. Of course by the time we got home, there was no dinner prepped and we were half in the bag and starving, so we scarfed down some frozen pizza and wished our good diet farewell!

I was thinking the exact same thing when I read this. I have a running Costco list and I was just hoping that I could get out of the house and go and leave DH here to mind the store. Other than taking my daughter to/from school and activities, I don't think I've been out the house all week. Oh, wait! I went to WallyWorld on Monday - took my mother.

On those rare days when all the check ins are settled in before I get home from work, I drag DH down to the cove a block away and sit on beach chairs for 40 minutes or so. It is his getaway from work.
