Do You Use D rop B ox?

It sounds like a really good convenience, but I feel a little strange putting all/most of my files on a free service and wonder about confidentiality, privacy and security.
Anybody here use it?

i use it. no problem but mostly for transferring files from clients to me so i can get photos to use for projects.
i back up everything to my external drives and ther is nothing I neede to worry about on their cloud.

I use it. Since goo gle already owns the world and most of my information, I figure it's not that big a deal. I don't know that I would do it if I made a living off my pictures...but I don't.
I work on several boards and committees, where sharing documents and photos is necessary, and it has made it a lot easier for me to move around even just my own devices (three that I use frequently).

I use it, but not for everything. Just so I can move between computers that I use for three different jobs. For my own use. I don't put financial or confidential info in 'the box'.
I also use google docs for file sharing with others - but people edit their own version of the document instead of the way that lets everyone see the edits ... and then we aren't on the same page, so I don't love that.

My email, sure, it's on Google. But if the server is in Canada, they still need a warrant.
There was a university that switched to uses Google for their email. They had to disclose to all the students the lack of privacy.

I would want to use it for photos, but don't want them to be able to use them. I was thinking it would be a good way to let my bridal couples get their pictures, but there won't be any watermarks or name on them.
I read the TOS on dropbox but still am unsure if they can just use my photos without my permission. Anyone know?

The warrants aren't that difficult to get, but no wholesale access like the NSA. But then, I think the whole thing is a giant waste of good money. We could make the homeless rich with all that waste.

we use it a bit - you have to give the other person a password to have access ie our county tourism people have taken lots of photo's and you can use them as long as you put on a web site link very handy for that.

Like the others, I've used it quite heavily for clients, non-profits and event organizing. I honestly think it's the best darn thing since strawberry jam! I keep most everything in it. I even have the phone app. I use it to collaborate with others as well as share docs between multiple computers that I use. I can save something in there on my laptop and when I get home I can transfer it to my hard drive.
We jsut had to buy a new computer at the Inn. I knew it was on it's last leg, so I have stored everything in DB since day 1. I was easily able to download everything back into the new one. Took about 2 hours, but it worked perfectly.
I've never heard of them having the ability to use your pics. They are a file hosting service.
I just looked and found [email protected]. as a contact to ask questions about Privacy. Hopefully, they can put your mind at ease about it.
They upgraded like last year or so and you can send someone a link to access files/pictures without having to "invite" them to share the folder or force them to download the program and create a password. If you do "invite" someone to download & share, you will get extra storage points. I have 9.8GB of space and am only using 50% of it right now ALL FOR FREE!
Did I mention that I love Dropbox??
