Do you charge for photos?

We've been getting a lot of calls lately from brides and grooms who want to have their engagement and/or wedding photos taken here. We host small weddings and events here and we've never charged for photos but these are non-guests who are asking. Last summer we actually had a whole bridal party show up here when we weren't home and they had their photos taken in our back yard! So, should we charge for this, and if so how much and how long should we allow them to be here?

Yes, charge for it. Yours is not a public property. Give them an hour for $100. Offer use of a bathroom, if you can.

ABSOLUTELY. THIS IS PRIVATE PROPERTY! They can't just show up and take pics. CHARGE THEM!

I would say make sure they encourage telling people where these were taken, but it gives birth to more couples, so you can offer them a discount or a referral charge, as well. Just something more to think about.
Charge them a fee. Esp if there are a whole truckload and they are there more than 5 minutes.

This could be a nice little revenue stream for you. Definitely charge! Add it to your website. I would limit the time and charge for each 1/2 hour. Put a limit on the number of people. It can impact your parking area and your paying guests.

THAT was cheeky - just showing up without asking and going on private property. Especially when you were not home. Definitely charge. They are trampling your grass, perhaps your flowers, disturbing you and your guests... Pay up or go to the City Park. Either way, you win.

We had a local photographer want to take "boudoir" photos in one of our rooms. We gave them 12p-4p for $100. I know you're talking outside pics, but this is one example of what we did.

i am amazed that someone, especially a professional photographer?, would come onto private property and take pictures. how rude! too bad you don't have wild geese, skunks, dogs or other animals that would chase intruders away at your command. i mean, really? it's not like it's a public park.
you've obviously got a nice place that people want to use so you definitely need to charge for it.

Seashanty, we do have a dog (a beautiful golden retriever)and as it turned out, she was in a lot of their photos!!! They were trespassing in her yard and she just wanted to hang out with them. I guess they couldn't shoo her away. Me thinks it was karma.

They live in town and told us about if after the fact.
