I've hung onto the same frying pans and saucepans for years because I know exactly how they react to different ingredients and heat settings. They were quite an expensive set but they're in a pretty sorry state, the non-stick surface has gone and the outside is blackened. It's been in the back of my mind for some time now that they need replacing, and as so very often happens with these things we went into a local hardware store to see if they could fix the strimmer and came out with a new set of pans.
They were very expensive, but high quality (Raym ond B lanc branded), I've only used them once but so far I love them. I couldn't believe how the scrambled egg wiped off with a cloth,, instead of the usual scourer.
I've promised myself I'll take care of this set, but I'm sure I said the same about the old ones.
I wonder if others prefer expensive that last or cheap which you throw away and replace?

You always get what you pay for. Cheap is not good for cooking. And scratched and worn non stick surfaces...a REALLY bad thing.

Expensive and well made pots. Cheap non-stick pans (crepe pans) because it never lasts. I go through a few a year.

I travel with my favorite large fry pan when I am cooking for a week. I left it at a cabin in June and had to pay to have it shipped home. I don't use non-stick pans. I was away this past weekend and didn't want to bring it and lose it again, so used the provided pans, and what a rot they were! Horrifying, I felt like I was cooking in the dark over a candle. I spent more time cleaning them, more time heating them, than actually cooking.
I think whatever pan(s) you use the most make it a good one, and you will get so used to it anything else won't suffice.

I am STILL using a pot and a Dutch oven I bought in 1962 (Betty Cr ocker coupon days). I also have a very expensive set of copper pots & pane (stainless steel-lined) my son the chef ordered for me with his chef discount. I use them all the time (and have burned something in each one of them as I forgot I was cooking when distracted). I also have 2 cheap non-stick I use for eggs for me and the rare times I make an omelet for guests. My pans are like my knives - PERSONAL things.
DH bought me a crock pot for Christmas the first year we were married (we were not married when he gave me the battery for my car I desperately needed that was OK). He learned gifts are supposed to be personal. The set of knives in a block he gave me another Christmas was OK because those were personal, MY knives.

I agree one hundred percent Good set pays for it self time and time again. I wished I had bought the best set when I began. But I am a slow learner . For 5 years now I have had my set of pots. I LOVE Them to bits. Why oh Why I never bought a good set before. Well it was because I was cheap.
But learn my lesson. Since then I have bought a great crepe pan from Swiss diamond. What a big change . They are thee best. Yes they are worth their weight in gold! Thanks to the 8 broads I would of never owned such wonderful frying pans or crepe pan.

I use my crepe pan daily and eventually the non-stick just gives out and won't clean properly. I buy them for $10 a piece of sale. Some last a year, so maybe 6 months.
How has the nonstick on Swiss Diamond held up?

I have a T FAL crepe pan I have used for years and years. Still works fine though it doesn't look great. There is no non stick coating to wear off. It's built into the pan...however that is done???

These are the ones that I use from A->Z. I buy them whenever the price gets down to $10 and I buy a few.

Ohhhh, YES. I have some heavy copper bottom stainless I've had since the 80s. LOVE them. Cast iron never goes bad if cared for. The non-stick does need replacing now and again. I'm about to retire one well used non-stick saute pan mostly used for eggs and will purchase new from the cash-and-carry. That one was purchased new in 2008. I think I can justify the expense. Must have the heavy bottom pans for even heat and to avoid sticking and burning. Quality pans much more economical in the long run!

I can say beautiful. It is diamond coated once it was it is seasoned has been just wonderful I now know why the gal from the eight broads liked it so much . It is worth every penny. Wolf also makes one too. If I believe what they told me Wolf bought out Swiss. It is a good heavy pan no warping non what so ever. It is not cheap. I think it will last me till I .
