"Can I get this to go?"

I've been experiencing an unusual trend lately. Every so often, a guest doesn't finish their entreé or baked good and they ask, "Can you wrap this up so I can eat it later?" as if I was a restaurant with a bunch of to-go containers laying around. When it's a baked good, it's fairly easy to accommodate this request because I can stuff it into a sandwich bag. However, there are several times (like this morning) that a guest wants me to wrap up their entreé leftovers. It's been happening frequently enough that I now save the containers I get from the grocery store deli. I've even bought the "disposable" rubbermaid containers and specifically bought sandwich bags to have on hand.
Before anyone asks, I don't believe I serve huge portions. Most guests finish everything on their plates. It's the bird-like eaters that pick at their food who want me to wrap it for them. I hate wasting food so I'd rather wrap the leftovers for the guest, but I'm also thinking that most times they just thrown the food away anyways.
Has anyone else been experiencing this?

No, but I do keep containers on hand for those EARLY breakfasts to go on the road.

Yes. And some pretty weird requests, too. Omelets. Scrambled eggs and sausage. French toast. Stuff that is not going to be palatable after 4 hours in the car.
Good idea to use the store containers. We have a bunch of those.

Nope. And I don't do take-away. It's what's at the table, no to go. That's called Timmy's.

That is the benefit of the buffet style! And a pat on the back to the chef!

At NE inn we had people take muffins and fruit along with them especially bananas for the road. We would let them know that the fruit bowl was for eating as well.
I would start a chart on what was asked to be pack to see if its the same thing every time and put something else in its place. Or try smaller potions. When I ask for a to go container at restaurants its because I can't eat it all but I plan to the next day! I choice what to leave on the plate when I'm done with that in mind.

I DO serve big portions. What cannot be put in a small sandwich baggie, I just just ask the guest if they’d like to wrap it themselves in a piece of foil. All do. Maybe not the most elegant way of doing it but at least I’m not touching the leftovers and people wrap it the way they want.

I also bring them a piece of foil.
