5 of 6 rooms filled with attendees at an off site office meeting held down the street.
Pros - 5 rooms, 5 people! One to a room. Nice.
Cons - This morning, putting out fruit for 7, while DH cooked the bacon, I ran into one of the attendees. Me, "What time is the meeting?" Him, "Starts at 8. Me, "Breakfast starts at 8! You aren't here for breakfast? I better tell DH to stop cooking." Him, "I think we'll be here tomorrow."
DH always tells each check in that breakfast is between 8 and 10. Not one of 5 thought to say that he wouldn't be there. DH talked to the guy after I left and he promised to confirm tomorrow's breakfast count.

What we've found - groups have to be asked specifically if they will be eating breakfast. They have to be asked specifically if they have a conflict with the breakfast time.
All guests assume you've got other people staying there and that's it's just like a hotel. Hotels don't care if you show up or not.
We ask every wedding attendee if there is a brunch they will be attending. Most of them forget they're going out for breakfast. Some of them eat twice!

Glad you found out before you got everything done! You could put breakfast up to 7am instead.

I know. Bite my tongue at the very thought!

Yep, if we'd known, we would have gladly put breakfast out early. But with a biz meeting, the host is likely bringing in a catered breakfast.
As I was prepping this morning, I said to DH, "funny, in my office, an all day meeting would start at 8. Wonder why these guys are starting so late."
LOL

We get lots of business guests during the week.
I have made it a point to ask their morning schedule before talking breakfast.
They come here in a business mind set.
Asking it that way, they usually know or have the agenda close at hand.
Then you can adjust your breakfast accordingly, or not.

And one to a room don't feel like they matter and won't bother to say anything. Business guests usually require 7am breakfast for an 8am meeting here, although another major business closed up so haven't had those in a while.
Thanks for the reminder, we have a wedding group this weekend, and many are one to a room.
Double jeopardy (new innspiring term?)

This made me giggle. They just weren't thinking about breakfast. I always keep the Helen Mirren character in the Gosford Park film in my head - "anticipate" It helps.
A bit.
