We got a card for Christmas with a GC made by one of the twins. It said my kids had all pooled funds to buy us a pig AND a freezer to put it in. Well it looks like they have picked out the freezer - after I pointed out it should be ready to accept said pig that was going to join a deer in it.
Had call tonight from the butcher - How do you want this pig done? He walked me through each section of that baby - how thick do you want the chops? How many to a package? How thick do you want the bacon? They are going to cure & smoke the hams and then slice & pack 2 ham steaks to a package. the 30 lbs of ground will be 10 lbs of brats and the rest as sausage, roasts, chops - Iowa pork. They will be bringing the pork & the venison already in my freezer. They are getting a 5.1 cu chest freezer. My guests are going to eat good and my wallet will be very happy. Bacon! I will have lots of bacon!
