When we moved in two years ago, inn/guest furniture came with the house. Many of the rooms had outdoor wicker bedside tables and sitting areas. I hated them. They were too casual, too unsteady, to lightweight. But Rome wasn't built in a day.
As of now, we are wicker-free and I couldn't be happier. I saw a picture of one of the rooms with wicker bedside tables and the difference in feel of the room was amazing. So glad we kept going and finding the right furniture.
It's a marathon, not a sprint!
(Wondering how many cliché's I can apply to my main motto of 'slow and steady wins the race.'?) ;)

Congratulations, Beachie!
We've completed four seasons managing our place, and are well on the way for the fifth season coming up. We have accomplished a tremendous amount, but still have a long ways to go, with lots of ideas for improvements we can make and a perpetual self-generating list of both immediate and longer-term issues demanding attention. It's hard to see the progress when in the midst of it, but others can, and it's worthwhile stopping to reflect on where you are now versus where you have come from!

Twenty years in and I am still updating and replacing. It is very satisfying to look back and see how much nicer it is now.

It's a never ending process. Here is a transformation we did in December. Unfortunately, when we bought our place every square inch of walls were covered in wallpaper.

A much cleaner, fresher look.
I'm weird, I don't hate wallpaper, but it can be a kind of clutter in a room. I like the new look!

Love the look nice and clean. Tastes sure do change. I too used to love wallpaper..no anymore. And I never want to have to remove any again :)

ALso love the large picture that sticks out infront of the window on the before - think it also depends on your artwork and sizes of rooms - too much pattern looks cramped and fussy.

I'm having our wedding photographer blow up and frame some seascapes of the area to hang on the walls. They will also be for sale so hopefully he'll get a little work out of it also.

Thanks everybody. Now I've got to get some quality photos. Ugh, it's always something!

Great idea! I keep saying I'm going to do that with my photos and all I've done so far is make postcards.
