One of those days from h-ll. Sewer alarm went full scream, fortunately working fine, just the alarm electronics have gone wrong, but part of what needs seeing to is under the lid, so a big hole with caution tape around it in the middle of the yard. Alarm is quiet. Electrician is researching. Not ETA on when we can re-fill the hole. :(
Nice.
Then washer died. Front load Frigidaire going strong for nine years. All of a sudden no agitate, no spin. Laundry comes to a screeching halt. Not a clogged pump intake so no more I can diagnose. Repair can't come for a week. That won't cut it so an appliance dealer in the next state could deliver new 'tomorrow' so I got what I had previously researched and went back to a top loader. It's a Speed Queen Commercial and I can use a true hot water cycle. So far - very good.
Other than the expense, a silver lining.
Now I'm at the rental in the next state while same company installs a washer here too. It also went wrong. A craigslist find that lasted two years. New this time. Had to do a stacking front loader because that's all that will fit in this particular space.
I think I can be a bit later than normal check in time back at the inn due to flight times for tonight's guests.
Nearly August. I can taste the quieter time from here.

Sorry to hear that.
Can't live without a washer, that's why we have two. Was it making a slight metalic grinding noise before it stopped, could be the motor brushes.

This is my nightmare!!!!!! Last fall we had a full house of sailors and our dryer's belt went and it was a week before it was running again. I was afraid the other dryer would go since I was running it night and day to keep from falling behind.
Our one washer is on the way out to the point it has tried repeated to walk itself out on it's own. So far the door has kept it from its goal as we come running to stop it. We have solved the problem for now by using it to do sheets mostly and limiting the towels when we only have fluffs that day.
But then again if I can get a pro washer out of the deal….

We had a washer we had to fence in!

No idea. I'm never in the laundry room during the cycles. Always off as soon as its loaded or unloaded. I suspect it could have been repaired, simply not enough deal-with-it time for that option.

Wow... I just got a Speed Queen Commercial 3 weeks ago,(top load) love it. After 4.5 yrs my eco, high spin, fancy pants washer died.. Speed Queen has not yet been made to comply with all this environment law. Happy washing here ....

Glad you're liking yours. All the reviews I found were stellar. Wash cycle is a bit quicker. Spin cycle gets clothes nearly as dry. I have an old school dryer I've had for years, so makes more of a matching pair now. So far I'm very happy. :)

see this is something I have never understood the USA is a very advanced country with tons of tourism businesses and hotels and yet you don't seem to have the laundry service system we have in the UK and have done for decades - I would never do my own laundry would put me off selling rooms!

What sucks is when my DH COULD fix the ac but on a Friday night around 6 after he drove 2 1/2 HOURS with the tools he needs at the other house and the part also there. Would of cost us $40 and a little time. Being the service guy had to drive an hour each way, it cost us $ 310 can't wait till he retires and we both live in the same house!

We initially had a laundry service, they provided the sheets, which were lousy and turn around time was slow, spread or blanket times even slower so we chose to do our own laundry. There is or was a national company that did linen, used to see their trucks although I have not noticed them lately.

Big cities only. No laundry service in our rural area. Even the nearest launderette is 40 miles away.

I completely understand more rural areas but even people in medium sized towns seem to struggle even with a washing and ironing service - clearly someone is missing a trick!

In our area it is a matter of water and waste water. We don't have the infrastructure to handle a large central plant that handles all the laundry. Out here, we all have our own wells and septic systems...only the bigger towns have enough hotel rooms and the infrastructure to handle large volumes of laundry to warrant setting up business. Then, in the winter months, all the tourists are gone and many lodging places close due to lack of business.

innkeeping in a nutshell right there.
if we have to hire everything out then we work for free, both of us. The more we can do the more we get to keep.

Our state park cabin system use a laundry service and you feel like you are sleeping between two sheets of sandpaper. Apparently you have to use their sheets only.

Our laundry goes to a bigish city about 80 miles away - they set up there because it is an ex mining town and the area they are in is pretty much shut down so land was cheap and plenty of cheap labour to staff it
They cover 100's of hotels and B&B's and self catering places about 20 in my town alone its big business. For their kind of operation you need a lot of space for the enormous washers (ie get 3 men in) and dryers, stock, lorries, ironing and wrapping machines etc. its a massive automated operation.
You pay for the quality level you want so prices vary - we get 100% cotton and the guests from the reviews are keen, bright brilliant white and I use it myself as its one less thing to wash.

I offer wash and fold to guests at $10 per load. Very few takers. Even a set of our long term guests chose to take their laundry the 40 miles to the launderette. While traveling in the UK I found it a blessing to find high street launderettes that would do a wash and fold for a few pounds (that was a decade or so ago) Why do wash on your holidays???
