14 years of Innkeeping

I just found this forum and never have posted anything on one before. After 14 years I am happy to know I can find others that love being an Innkeeper but...
Telling your family or friends a story of a great couple you had stay or a nut job is not the same if they cannot relate. I feel we are very blessed in that most of B&B guest are great people compared to what your standard hotel gets. Though there are those ones, well lets just say give us stories to tell.
This year, for some odd reason, more request for stuff I would not really even think to ask of the Innkeeper. I do offer dinners with advanced notice, cannot ask that afternoon people. Laundry service, who ask this? Coffee at 6, ok but then show up at 7. Do not get us started on guest not showing up on time for breakfast, rude. I do not mind catering to guest, its part of the business but the word of this year I feel is inconsiderate. I am not a Bed, Breakfast and Beyond.
Well that being said I do love being an Innkeeper and now will have a place to share ( aka vent ) to others who understand.

Welcome, Innmate. I am in year #24 and happily fiscovered this group on a previous iteration. Lots of good prople here.
When asked we have lots of opinions. Have had some who did not like whst we said wholeft after terming us barracudas, sharks, and other such terms. As you cn imagine, fools are not suffered here.
The only no-nos here are politics and religion- all else, have at it.
Going to Wadesboro next month to meet up with some cousins.

Seems I always have a story about a guest and I dont want to sound like I am always complaining to family or friends. Nice to be able to bounce stuff off others that know from their own experiences.
Not into politics, makes no sense to me so one shall not talk about things in which they do not know. If only all saw that to be true. Religion, we are here that is all I know.
I am in the furthest area of NC, in the Appalachian mountains. I would have to look up Wadesboro to see where that actually is. Hope you see some good fall colors while there.

Welcome and hello from the Ozark Mountains. Sorry I'm late with the hello. I'm a bipolar reader/poster.

We are 4 1/2 years into our Innkeeping venture. I feel like people are just growing inconsiderate. We still have mostly wonderful guests, but even the wonderful ones seem to be asking stupid questions.
This one lady who was traveling by herself, just as sweet as she could be, very low maintenance. On her second morning, with a full dining room, she asked,"Aren't y'all going to serve us? I'm on vaca, ya know."
Really...Umm, it's only the two of us, but I did bring the next dish straight to her. The next morning, one of the musicians that was staying for free with us served her. But that was her only quirk and she was delightful otherwise. She was even tearful when she check ed out. Go figure.

I have enjoyed reading and sharing. Everyone has different setups and how they run their business so it is nice to get other ideas. But I must say venting is great.
We all do enjoy our guest minus the ones we mention in the pet peeves forum but some days I have to pinch myself, this is my job how cool is that.
