    Obvious observations from the oblivious

That reminds me of the guest who asked me where I was visting from ! His wife said she lives here! He said WOW that is soooo cool.

    Phone Calls

I had some lady from Germany come into my quarters when I was in the bathroom to ask me how to open the remote for her car because it was not working. She was freaking out because she had no idea how she was going to get into the car if the remote did not work. I told her to use the KEY ...

Late check ins vs too-early check ins

Early check ins are ok as long as the room is ready and its not TOO early. I leave the door to the room unlocked with the key inside and a note. When I hear them arrive I will say HELLO!! I am so glad you made it ! - we will take care of the paperwork in the morning. GOODNIGHT!! I am sure if...

    The Second B

I once stayed at a place calling itself a bed and breakfast that provided food and a kitchen to cook it in because the county would not allow the owners to cook meals without a commercial kitchen, but the guests could cook for themselves in a non commercial kitchen. I will say that refridgerator...

What was the most pleasant surprise you found in a guest room?

One guest left a hand knit blanket for my little baby boy. She left a beautiful note saying that it was tradition in her family for her mom to make every new baby a blanket and how happy her mom would be for a precious little baby in Hawaii to have one of her blankets. Her mom passed about 3...

    Obvious observations from the oblivious

A family member told me about it. They were googling my place.
  7. Somewhere in Paradise

    The Second B

    I would expect a hot breakfast at a B and B.

    Service points

I hate to admit it. If I paid 300.00 for a motel 6 I would expect it to be the nicest motel 6 you have ever seen - but a motel 6 is what I would expect.

    Obvious observations from the oblivious

They accused us of having a family. And a life. I think they were mostly mad because they thought they booked someplace with multiple units in it and then acted like it should be as quiet as a Zen retreat 24 hours a day. We do make noise at appropriate times during the day !

    Service points

Its hard to put together what you should expect for what money. I do find that when I stay somewhere with lower prices I have lower expectations. Although the expectations are usually geared more to the type of accomodation I expect along with the location.

    Obvious observations from the oblivious

So I had some guests stay here and they wrote about us on thier blog. They said that we are doing this so we can pay the mortgage and we should be ashamed of ourselves for doing that. Well DUH !! of course we do this to pay the bills. What are some of the more obvious obeservations from the...

    Linens for owners

I keep everything seperate too. I agree that it helps to seperate business from personal time. I would not put stained sheets on anyones bed. Joe you are sooo funny! I hope not to make anyone mad because I have seen threads and youtube videos... but that is why I do not fold the TP . I dont like...

    The Second B

I would expect breakfast at a bed and breakfast. I would not expect breakfast at an Inn or Lodge or Cabins (I think a couple people here have little cabins set up - very nice).

    Linens for owners

As I was at the store buying more brand new linens for my guest rooms the other day started to get a little upset that I was using linens that were ruined by guests for myself. I decieded right there at the store that I was going to from now on buy myself new linens for my quarters and if guests...

    Pillow Case Protectors

I do what little blue does. I use older pillowcases that may have a little stain on them that would be hidden with the other pillowcase.

Dealing with the cross and grumpy

We keep reminding our selves of that wonderful saying that I have seen on this website many times : They pay. they stay, they go away !

Need someone to pay you to help out ?

Sorry BD I did not mean to imply that it was a joke. I just was trying to come up with a catchy line to catch your eye so I could get some input on this. I have trained people in other types of jobs and I am exhausted at the end of the day. I get a headache from so much talking. It reminds me a...
