    Unhappy Camper

I am so sorry you have to deal with this. Because I was just in this situation I would at least try to call her and make nice with her. I know its awful to kiss a** like that - when she really does not deserve it at all - but it is way better than getting a bad TA review. If you do that then...

Do you serve a breakfast burrito?

It looks delicious to me. Maybe served with some warmed up tortillas too? A popular dish in Hawaii is called a Loco Moco. Rice, a hamburger patty, eggs, covered with gravy. Eaten at any meal. Its delicous! People think its gross until they try it then they are hooked.

    Library?

I started putting a few feminine items under the sink in each of my bathrooms. This way if there is a surprise "visitor" the guests will have something to use instead of messing up my sheets.

    Bedding changes

I always remove all the linens as soon as I can. Then remake when I have time. It seems like guest "smells" seem to linger within the linens. I like to take off the sheets and febreeze. I always also empty the trash, get rid of dead flowers, fruit and clean out the fridge as soon as possible.

    Breaking In

Easy here too. we leave the door unlocked and the car keys under the mat.

    What Advice Would You Give?

Would you consider hosting her retreat at your B&B? You could book up the rooms and maybe offer her a percentage? Or if you are not interested in doing that, maybe you could suggest that she offer her groups to someone in her area. I think we may have touched on destination B&B's. I have...

    How Honest Business Help Me

Since I am very picky about the cleanliness of our guest rooms I have extended that to my quarters as well. It helps to keep my quarters my sanctuary. Also this business has forced me to become much more organized that I used to be. I have to be. My worst nightmare is someone showing up and to...

    Guests that never leave

We get mostly what alot of you cringe about. Long term guests. Most people stay here for 7 nights or more. I don't really mind most of the time because they are out and about. However sometimes we get what we call a "porch sitter" who it seems to us came all the way here just to sit on the...

    Amenites for children

I see your point. I am looking on craigslist for pack n plays and highchairs. I don't imagine it could cost more that 60.00 per room. I was thinking about getting one set then if I had a situation like that I would decide if the booking was worth the expenditure. I have priced out walmart and...

    Changing directions

"The bed and breakfast will operate in the other half of the building, where there are suites with ..." I thought you were gonna say whiskey.

    Amenites for children

For those of you who allow children or even try to woo parents with kids - What type of things do you offer? For example pack n plays, highchairs, infant baths, toys, swingsets, access to laundry? Do you feel that offering these items increases your bookings? Do you charge for them? I know from...

    Making Gift Baskets

If possible I would add wine or champagne to the spa basket. the wine glasses are sort of a tease without it. If you cannot do wine, maybe a couple of cute mugs with your logo or a pattern that helps identify where you are (for example in Hawaii I would put something with tropical flowers or...

As seen on the CBS Evening News - Clean The World

What do they do with the stuff? Did I miss it in the article? I hate the wasted soap. I am seriously considering getting one of those dispensers for the shower that has a few compartments - one for shampoo, conditioner , body wash and lotion. I already use pumps for hand soap at the sinks. Does...

    Between the Blankets

maybe they were drunk? LOL I have brought my own blanket on vacation a few times. If I am staying somewhere that may be cold that I question how often they wash the blankets I will take one. Also some guests may like to have "a bit of home" with them?

Blog photos - what can you post?

I think legally if you are in public place you cannot expect privacy......

    Clueing in the clueless

I would politely ask them if they would not mind leaving their muddy shoes outside.

    Interesting discovery

OH WOW. I never thought about that. My old name was probably a little to easy to figure out. I am one of the innkeepers in Hawaii I hope if you think about it the person I was will be crystal clear. I am now incognito. mahalo! (Thank you)

When guests talk out of both sides of their mouths.

EVERY PITA I have ever had has been from NYC. They are extremely demanding, have unrealistic exepectations and do have a sense of entitlement.

    Obvious observations from the oblivious

I hear what you are saying. These guests we spent over an hour with on a tour of our grounds. I think it was more a case of familiarity breeds contempt.

    Obvious observations from the oblivious

Oh my goodness that is a beautiful tub. I think I would spend my whole day in there.
