Bloggers: Don't bring a keyboard to a knife fight

Both parties involved in this "scandal" have immensely benefited from it all. The blogger became "that girl" and had her 5 minutes of Internet fame. The hotel, besides all the publicity, now has a credible way of combating any negative future reviews. They can now just say that a negative...

    Web hosting

Currently I have about 6 hosting packages with 4 different providers. Even though I've been recommending inmotionHosting for a year or so, I've started with SiteGround about 3 months ago and I'm shocked by the speed and performance. I forgot how it feels to get pages loaded almost instantly, so...

Website stuff you may want to check

I've used it for 2 websites, but it's not universal. There are still things in the theme itself that need to be adapted for HTTPS. The plugin mostly handles rewrite rules and external resources (that are loaded the right way). Not all themes are HTTPS-friendly.

Avada Theme Version 5.1.5 Patches Stored XSS and CSRF Vulnerabilities

I know that Avada has been mentioned here often, so probably somebody might be even using it. In this case, it is important that you read this: https://wptavern.com/avada-theme-version-5-1-5-patches-stored-xss-and-csrf-vulnerabilities

    We were featured in vogue.com!

Congrats! Did they get in touch, were they the ones who took the photos? Was it difficult to accommodate their requests?

    Wordpress Security Plugins

Most of these IPs are dynamic or coming through a proxy. Manually taking actions against them is time-consuming and wouldn't help much. Set some strict rules and let WordFence do its job.

Back from vacation in Napa Valley

And here I am back from a tasting of Napa Valley Sauvignons and Cabernets (at ProWein 2017). Had the opportunity of tasting about 12 wines with a combined retail price value of $1,000+, with the most expensive one being $160. Just felt the need to brag I guess :)

    OMG... Website!

Sliders are OK, as long as you don't put important content into each slide, content that people will most likely miss. So you can use sliders for their main purpose - as a slideshow of your photos, not offers or rooms. Then everything will be fine, if it doesn't take crucial real-estate. Yoast...

    Wordpress Security Plugins

I set everything to 1 attempt and simply whitelisted my own IPs: the one from the office and the one from home. As I don't have an account with the username "admin", I have configured it to automatically lock-in anyone trying a non-existing username. Combined with a .htaccess password protection...

    OMG... Website!

Ah, parallax, the cancer of modern day webdesign... (sorry for the off-topic) :)

    Wordpress Security Plugins

True. WordFence can be configured to handle most of the stuff. From my experience the most important thing is to block the log-in attempts. The default configuration doesn't put restrictions in place for that (like a user lock-out for 24 hours).

Got a WordPress notification This Morning

Actually you have a surprising amount of backlinks to your website, I would say a lot more than the average folk :)

WP sites across the world hacked

The problem with such vulnerabilities is that they always bring a lot of brute-force attacks and scans of all websites, no matter what version they are using. So even if you updated at the correct time - the servers are still getting hit by a lot of incoming requests, so that causes another...

Do you advertise/market your green initiatives?

I feel like I'm under fire here for some reason... Please don't shoot the pianist.

Do you advertise/market your green initiatives?

Again, not going to debate the climate change being real or not, just like not going to talk about birth control, gay marriages or Obamacare. But I think that some combination of "green stickers" on your website might make the guests feel a little better and maybe encourage them to book your...

Do you advertise/market your green initiatives?

Did NOT have the intention of bringing the political aspect of climate change into this, but it is a popular term and something to be considered, but not from the political point of view, but the results of it. If an innkeeper is a climate change denier or not doesn't make much of a difference...
