When inflation talk picked up steam a few months ago, I began carefully monitoring the rates at the local Days Inn, which have remained unchanged since I began monitoring. They are the only real alternative in town to my place; that is, I think people who would stay at my place would probably go to Days Inn if I'm unavailable. There are a couple of local cheap motels, but I really don't see them being acceptable to most of my guests.
Anyway, just this morning I discovered the Days has finally raised their rates, $5, beginning Aug. 1, so I've just raised all my rooms $5 also. It won't offset all the inflationary losses, but it will sure help!
