Baked up some decorated sugar cookies yesterday which usually disappear. I don't mind that some are left it's just that all of them are left. The guests took the prepackaged cookies instead. (I had a box of them left from the flirtation with snacks in the room.)

I use to set out a small sweet spread in the afternoon.
Most would say they were holding out for diner and so the only ones indulging were the innkeepers who got rounder!
I nixed that idea and went with home made chocolate mints and placed them in the rooms in small candy bags. Very few removed.
Today I made chocolate covered strawberries and had them plated on a heart shaped dollie (yep). Everyone seemed to love them - at least they took them to the room. Will see tomorrow when I clean how well they really went over.

I've never made a scone.

Are they seriously easy?.
Pretty easy. The most important thing is to cut them before baking. You make them into a large cake shape, then cut into 8 pieces, then bake.

I make my scones and when they are cool enough, I slice them in half and fill with homemade Devonshire cream, and sliced strawberries or raspberries. I drizzle a teeny tiny bit of glaze over the top. Guests LOVE them and gobble them up. Just last week I had a guest call to make a reservation but she wanted to make sure I still served these!

Seriously. Even for me. Recipes on my blog. I don't make the triangular ones because they don't look right. I cut them out with a glass into round ones.

Oh, Sunshine, I would call you too!! Sounds divine. Do you serve them at the end of breakfast, the beginning with their coffee or are you buffet style. I serve scones with butter and homemade jam, hot out of the oven, in a little basket along with their first coffee/tea of the day. But yours sound delish.

I serve them at the beginning of breakfast with coffee, followed by fruit.

Seashanty, here's my favorite recipe. Easy and tasty!
preheat oven to 350f.
In a med size bowl, mix 2 c flour, 1/4 c sugar, 2 1/2 teasp baking powder,
1/8 salt.
Cut into flour mixture 1/3 c cold butter. flour mixture should be crumbly.
In a smaller bowl, mix 1 egg, 1/2 c whipping cream, 1/2 teasp almond flavor.
Mix wet ingreds into dry.
Form into a ball and pat out to about 1" thick. Cut into pie shape wedges (or like I did today for Valentines day, I cut hearts - any shape for any holiday).
Place on parchment paper lined pan.
Bake for about 13 minutes. They will be white and just start to get golden on edges.
YUMMY!

Heart shape bacon? How did you do that? Twist it around into a heart?
We left a vase with flowers, and a bowl containing a heart shaped box of chocolates, brownies, and homemade chocolate-dipped strawberries, outside every room for the holiday. We were planning on having them in the rooms when they arrived, but they arrived too early or we were too late.

My guests are here 3 nights. So I left the chocolate dipped strawberries and a bottle of sparkling cider yesterday. Today we left the heart shaped box chocolate instead of cookies.
Tonight, when they returned from dinner, they brought us back walnut cheese cake from the restaurant down the street. It was sweet of them.
Here's the pic of the bacon. Just cut it in half and shape and bake! easy. Great for anniversaries too!

Saw the bacon on Pinterest and wondered if it would work. I'll have to try it.
