Last year, we were booked during the weeks. This year we have one or two rooms. It looks like other innkeepers are seeing the same.
We did raise prices. DH is experimenting with lowering the prices for the upcoming weekdays if they haven't booked yet.
On the other had, we did get two walk ins last night. So things are looking up, if more spontaneous than we prefer.

This is the first year in a long time that we have had no foreign guests. The dollar is strong and our guests from the UK and Europe are spending their euros some place else. Perhaps our higher-than-many rates have put them off. Or perhaps they are using airbnb to find accommodations?
It's OK for us as we are winding down anyway. But I would not want to be building a business at the moment.

Playing with pricing can pay off.
I'm enjoying the quieter mid week right now. But it's very rainy and that could be the issue.

Well things seem to be booming around here. Lots of foreign visitors are staying at many of my friend's B & B and last month was one of their busiest. We can't even find a time to go out to dinner. :-(

I saw a place near us is offering cut rate prices midweek but no breakfast. Make your own coffee and maybe juice and pastry, I am thinking not even that. Just NO BREAKFAST at all.

Busy here in Alaska, but this is our high season now. Seems the same. Have had Aussie's, Brits, Brazilians, and Californians.

I am ahead of last year as of the end of May. I would hazard the Vrits are not traveling much in June. June 23 id the Brexit Election and it is going to be interesting.

We've just had our busiest May ever, in fact outside of August it was our 2nd busiest month in 12 years.
Lots of American's around this year, far more than the last two years.

I believe having so many UK series on Netflix is really helping bring folks across the pond. I know we surely looked at going! Congrats and keep up the good work HJ.

Our bookings for the entire year are up 27% over last year. Actual YTD Jan-Today is up 12.6%. Best year ever in 11 years with no OTAs.
Foreign travel started slipping last year, non-US bookings are about the same this year.

Dead even with last year. But I'm still on the road every couple of weeks so there's that.

I think the exchange rate has had an effect over the past two years too, I don't know if it's improved this year or people have just given up waiting for it to improve.
Lots of other nationalities too, Australians, Germans and Canadians are the main ones.
I spent a great deal of time in the winter getting our availability onto as many websites as I could, I hope this has had an effect too.

We're ahead of last year, even though I am taking one weekend a month off. Hope it continues.

I guess it's just us! Not good.
We are busier now. But May was very quiet. Maybe the weather had something to do with it.

We thought May 2015 would win over 2016, but 2016 won by "pennies", so to say.

So far, June is up by 25% and I only have a few rooms left to sell until the end of the month. Been lurking, not posting. Too tired. Had a walk in yesterday that asked for an extra night once I gave them the 'ole tour. Couldn't do it. So glad I've got a weekend booked off in July. Come on July!

As of the end of May, nights stayed for May 2016 was down 21% compared to May 2015, but overall bookings for the 2016 season were up 13.7% compared to the same time last year. For our business, we focus onthlymore on the overall season projections/results than on the monthly numbers, since we are only open for about 5 months a year (mid-May to mid-October).
