My sweet kitty got skunked this morning. Poor honey. Banished from the house and it looks like her eye got hit.
DH is going to give her a tomato juice bath after breakfast is cleared away.
This is one of those times when having a job in the city is a good thing. :)

tomatoe juice really not work, it only masks. Try this (smaller dog): 1/4 cup baking soda mixed with 2 teaspoons of Dawn mixed with 2 pints Hydrogen Peroxide. (double amount for large dog)
Wet the dog thoroughly, and scrub this mixture in and leave on at least 4 minutes. It will fizz, but that is fine.
Repeat several times.

I will forward your recipe but understand, this is a cat. I don't think, "repeat several times" will work. Getting a cat in a bath is an accomplishment in itself.

true, but I doubt a cat will be any more thrilled with tomato juice. I would just scrap the juice, and clean the cat with this solution in whatever way the juice would have been used.

Perhaps not. My dog HATED the garden hose. The night she got skunked she couldn't stand there long enough to have it all cleaned off her. She opened her mouth and let us rinse and rinse. By then the water was freezing but she didn't care. Just get this stuff off me!
The cat may realize she's being helped. May.

Maybe. She's a pretty smart cat. And she trusts DH. We'll see.

Happened to my sister's dog once and I helped wash her off. I could smell it on my hands for weeks.

Our cat got skunked this summer as well as our two dogs. Dogs got the peroxide, baking soda, dawn soap mixture bath.
Cat got no bath and we were amazed after a few days the smell was gone. Much to our amazement. The dogs still have a scent if they get wet.. Its the norm for summer.

She is ok this morning. Asked to go out first thing, so I guess it wasn't so traumatic. DH did give her a tomato bath. She didn't like it but she let him do it. I sniffed at her face this morning. A very minor smell. But only if you try. In general, she's back to normal in one day. GOOD!
